James have been announced as Friday night headliners at this year's Wizard two day music and arts festival in the North East.

Classic indie band James , most famous for indie anthem 'Sit down', will play Wizard’s main stage on Friday in their first appearance in the region since a sold out show at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre two years ago.

The New Deer festival show will be only one of a handful of UK and European appearances by the band over the summer. Most famous for their hits of the 80's and 90's, James have made a big resurgence on the UK music scene in recent years, releasing a 'mini' album called 'The Night Before' last month.

Also confirmed to play at this year's event is up and coming Scots singing siren, Pearl and the Puppets.

Roy Thain, Wizard Festival director said, "Our confirmed acts so far this year reads like a who's who of the Manchester music scene of the '90's. We are really proud that we can continue bringing these top name acts to Wizard and we will be working hard over the next few months to make sure we can deliver our best music bill yet. Making sure that some of the newer, fresher acts like Pearl and the Puppets are booked shows how committed we are to providing a platform for up and coming talent as well as the older, more established acts."

They join a line-up over the weekend of Friday 27th and Saturday 28th August 2010 that includes Saturday headliners Happy Mondays plus Alabama 3, Complete Stone Roses and Peatbog Faeries, who have already been confirmed to play at the event.

Now in its fourth year, Wizard, takes place at the New Deer Show Ground near Peterhead and Fraserburgh, North East Scotland and attracts music fans from across Scotland and more than 4,000 people attended last year's event.

A family friendly event, Wizard also runs a full two day children's programme and has a dedicated arena, Wee Wizards, where families and young people can get involved in creative and musical activities and workshops.

Made up of three stages, over 50 acts will appear at Wizard across two days in August. Held in the beautiful setting of the New Deer Showground, approximately 30 miles from Aberdeen, last year it added a full line up of DJ’s as well as local acts and arena performers to its bill.

Tickets are on sale priced at £70 for an adult weekend ticket (includes camping & parking from 1pm Fri to noon Sun) or £45 for a Saturday adult day ticket (includes camping & parking Saturday only), a campervan/caravan ticket is priced at £20. Children 12 years old and under go free.
