International acoustic act Emmet Scanlan & What the Good Thought are Galway based 5-piece and a colourful fusion of Scots, Irish, Swedes and Italians. The unusual mix of instrumentation and nationalists is reflected in the music which is described as 'Veering away from the norm but embraced by the majority.'

Grabbing another top billing slot is the Rachel Sermanni, the Highlands based songstress will entertain the acoustic faithful with her unique take on lyrical folk music. Her audience can expect fiddles, piano and according to her website ghostly noises and shoobaps.

Hailing from Sydney and Aberdeen are the trio The String Contingent. They will present the Wickerman audience with a highly individual blend of baroque chamber music, Scottish fiddle and bluegrass.

Joining them in the Acoustic Village at the ninth Wickerman festival which happens on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th July 2010 at Dundrennan, South West Scotland, in deepest Galloway will be alternative country soloist Jill Jackson (ex Speedway) and Andi Neate.

This year the Acoustic Village will swap places with the Bass Camp Dance Village at the fetival, this will now place the acoustic acts within a stone's throw of the festivals quiet camping field.

Acoustic booker Nicola Black welcomed the move saying, "Much of our audience are family orientated and it makes perfect sense for us to pitch up next to the quieter elements of the festival."

Ocean Colour Scene are the first headline acts to be announced with The Saw Doctors, Codeine Velvet Club, Sons & Daughters, The Grass Mountain Hobos, The Undertones, Back To The Planet, The Sex Pistols Experience, Ed Tudor Pole, The Amphetameanies, Doll & The Kicks, Root System, Strawberry Blondes, Monkeyrush, and Counterfeit Clash also confirmed. The festival welcomes families, and features two main stages, as well as a dance area, acoustic and reggae tents, a campsite, trade stalls, alternative area, bars, and food stalls. There are no acts confirmed yet for this year's event.

Weekend adult tickets cost £85, teens aged 13-15 cost £42.50, kids under 13 are admitted free. To buy, click here.

This year's fancy dress theme is Vampires and Werewolves. Festival goers are invited to bring their Halloween costumes and get in the Hammy Horror groove for next July's fangtastic celebration of all things Fiery and Fearsome.
