Moby, and Baaba Maal are included in the first names announced on the line-up for the annual nine day Meltdown festival curated by Ornette Coleman.

Alongside them has been announced an interesting collaboration of Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band, featuring Sean Lennon. Other acts announced include The Roots, David Murray and The Gwo Ka Masters, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Cornelius, Yo La Tengo, Bobby McFerrin, Patti Smith, The Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, Master Musicians of Jajouka, Charlie Haden Liberation Music Orchestra, Carla Bley, Robert Wyatt, and The Bad Plus.

More artists and events to be confirmed soon for the festival which has, for the first time, a jazz artist take the curatorial controls. Meltdown takes place over all 21 acres of the Southbank Centre, including the riverside, Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall. The dates for Meltdown 2009 are confirmed as Saturday 13th until Sunday 21st June.

Prices will vary depending on show and venue, and will go on sale at 10am on Thursday 30th April.
