The Charlatans, and Buzzcocks for Wizard

first two acts named for Saturday of Scottish festival

Monday 16th March 2009

Scotland's Wizard Festival have confirmed the first two acts to head up Saturday night's main stage for this year.

St Etienne

Buzzcocks
The Charlatans will headline Wizard's main stage, the Voodoo stage, on Saturday 29th August, with Buzzcocks filling the pre-headline support slot.

Roy Thain festival organiser said, "We are delighted to have secured great bands like The Charlatans and Buzzcocks to top the bill for Saturday night at Wizard. This year we intend to mix it up a bit, and provide a diverse and exciting programme of music that will appeal to everyone. Feedback from fans over the last two years has been fantastic, and, where possible, we are building our line-up on what the fans have asked for."

He went on to say, "It's a real coup for Wizard, and it proves how far we have come in just two years. We have worked hard to keep the profile of the festival high, and it has paid off in terms of the high calibre of acts we can now secure year on year."

The Wizard Festival takes place at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, in Scotland and runs over the August bank holiday weekend on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th August.

More acts will be named over the coming weeks as Wizard organisers pull together a diverse line-up of performers for the North East festival. All genres of music are programmed for Wizard, from rock and roll to rockabilly to reggae and pop. Plus the best in new up and coming Scottish and UK acts too.
Located on a 50 acre site, on New Deer's Showground, The Wizard Festival incorporates a campervan park and tent campsite, food courts, shopping areas, a fairground, first aid & security village, ample car parking and plenty of portaloos!

Tickets are on sale priced at £70 for an adult weekend ticket (includes camping & parking from 1pm Fri to noon Sun) or £45 for a Saturday adult day ticket (includes camping & parking Saturday only), a campervan/caravan ticket is priced at £20. Children 12 years old and under go free.
