Festival goers hoping to get tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2009 which runs for five full days from Wednesday 24th June until Sunday 28 June 2009 across 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset will have no limits on the number of tickets they can buy or reserve - as long as each purchase (or deposit) is matched with valid registration numbers.

Michael Eavis
Festival organiser Michael Eavis said, "I'm pleased to point out that anyone intending to come to the Festival in 2009 won't be limited to one, two or even six tickets when the booking opens on Sunday 5th October. Our only stipulation is that each ticket - bought or reserved - is matched to a valid registration number. This way we can ensure that tickets are going to genuine Festival-goers only. With your consent we will save your registration number so you won't need to re-register for the next four years."

The maximum purchase with each transaction is six, however now ticket buyers will be able to make several transactions, either online or by telephone.

When wanting to purchase more than six tickets online once the booking of the first six has been completed, purchasers will be able to click the 'book more tickets' button at the end of the order, and will then be taken back to the start of the booking process.

Ticket purchasers booking by telephone can buy up to 6 tickets in a transaction and then can stay on the phone for as many transactions as they wish.

Tickets may only be purchased if there is a valid registration number for each person. For example, six tickets will require six different unique registration numbers - and the details of the six individuals associated to these registration numbers. A registration number may only be used once, which will prevent inadvertent duplicate purchases.

Purchasers are only able to use one debit card per transaction; therefore it is recommend that all money is put into one account in advance if buying for other people.

Once tickets are booked, there is the option to either to pay the balance for all the tickets booked or alternatively, each person that a ticket has been booked for can pay their balance of £125 individually. Balance payments can be made from additional cards at a later date.

However each ticket for which the balance is settled separately will then be processed as a single booking and will therefore be subject to £4.50 postage per individual transaction. For example, six tickets paid in full on one card will only be charged £4.50 postage; whereas if the balance payments are made separately each ticket will incur an individual postage charge. The balance must be payable by Sunday 1st February 2009.

There will be cases where there may be more than one purchase from an address which has multiple occupancy. While that is not a problem, such cases will be checked to ensure there are no duplicate purchases.

Everyone who wants to buy a ticket when they go on sale at 9am on Sunday 5th October must be registered, and that includes children aged 13, 14 and 15. Each ticket sold will feature a photograph of the person in whose name it is registered and will be non-transferable. So if you plan to buy tickets for friends or family you must make sure they all register!

Registration does not reserve or guarantee a ticket when they go on sale. Online registration can be carried out by clicking here.

Registration involves:
1. Providing contact details: name, address, postcode and a valid e-mail address.
2. Sending a passport standard photo: you will be required to upload your passport standard photo in jpeg form for online registration. If a ticket is successfully purchased this picture will be printed on it to make it unique and must therefore be an acceptable facial image. The image must meet passport photo requirements.
3. Receiving a registration number: to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2009 this number must be quoted, it will be a unique registration number. So write it down somewhere safe and do not lose it! As last year, there is a webpage provided where you can recover your registration number, here. Note that there will be no editing facility for registrations, so please ensure all your details are correct, and that your photo is of a suitable size and standard before submitting your details.

If you do not have internet access you can apply for a registration form (enclosing an SAE) to:

Glastonbury,
PO Box 2445,
Glasgow
G40 9AG

Successful postal registrants will be notified of their registration number by post within two weeks.

There is no limit to the total number of people who will be allowed to register. Registering more than once will not increase your likelihood of getting a ticket. Every registration will have an equal chance of buying tickets irrespective of how or when it was made during the registration period. Registration can be made on behalf of other people as long as all their contact details and photos can be provided. If you live outside the UK, the only option is to register online.

If you have not received a confirmation email within a day of having made an online application, please check your spam folder. If your registration is rejected you can re-apply.

If you send in a postal application and do not receive notification of your registration number within two weeks of sending it in, it is best to re-register in case your registration has been rejected, or did not reach them in the first place.

If you have any questions it is worth looking at the Glastonbury FAQ page here.

A second release of tickets will be available from 9am on Sunday 5th April 2009; again you must be registered by March 31st to be eligible to buy a ticket.

Ticket purchasing will require each buyer to input their name and their unique valid registration number for each ticket they purchase. Tickets will be sent out by courier to the addresses specified when making the sale, and if ordering more than one ticket, all tickets will be dispatched to the address provided during registration for the first name on the ticket booking.

Data collected during registration will be destroyed one month after the 2009 Festival unless you opt to have it retained by Glastonbury Festivals for future registrations over the next four years. Retained information will also be used to inform you of events run by Glastonbury Festival. No information collected through registration will be offered for sale or made available to any third party.

All data collected in 2007 was destroyed, so 2007 registrants will need to register again this year. Those who registered in 2008 were offered the chance to save their details - if you did so, your existing registration number is still valid. If you did not opt to have your details saved, then you will need to register again this year.

Checks will be made at the gates and if you are clearly not the person whose face is printed on the ticket you will be denied entry.

Glastonbury Festival will play host to more than 2,000 performances at 50 or so venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, and also has a fantastic Kids area, poetry, green crafts and information and loads, loads more.

No acts are confirmed as yet, but as usual eFestivals will bring you the very best-sourced rumours, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2009 rumours, updated as we receive information.
