T in the Park adds Sharleen Spiteri

and confirms more onsite activities, and expanded zones

T in the Park which takes place at Balado, nr Kinross, Scotland this weekend from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July has announced Sharleen Spiteri as a last minute addition to the bill.

Sharlene, the frontwoman of rock band Texas, is set to play an acoustic solo set and is expected to perform two songs exclusively at T in the Park on Sunday 13th July.

Car parking tickets for T in the Park will be available on site but will be extremely limited. Fans are advised to travel with the official transport provider Citylink. Not only is bus the greenest way to travel, but it will also bring you closer to the drop off point.

The campsite opens early for the first time ever tomorrow night. Thursday camping is available to buy onsite from midday on Thursday 10th July. Campers will be able to sample the Silent Disco, Cabaret Voltaire Boom Bus DJ's, campsite cinema, the fun fair, stalls, bars and kiosks. Also announced at this year's T in the park will be Mischief La Bas who'll be showcasing their onsite activity, watch out for spiv traders and emotional security.

T in the Park is putting out a call to all campers to dig out their favourite costumes and take part in Fancy Dress Friday. It's not just T in the Parkers who should glam up - it's their tents as well! The best costumes and most innovatively dressed up tents will be rewarded with the very first tickets to T in the Park 2009, and the winners put on the T in the Park website post event.

This year the Healthy T with support from the Scottish Government has been expanded and is situated in a gladed area, close to the Pet Sounds Arena. T in the Parkers can sample healthy Scottish produce from 'Foods from Argyll', with delights on offer including organic lamb burgers and Cullen Skink. Crepes, freshly prepared smoothies, and freshly prepared sushi are all on offer. The area will also offer a selection of holistic treatments including Indian head massage, neck and shoulder massage and reiki.

T in the Park has a line-up of around 180 artists playing over the 12 stages including the headliners of The Verve, Rage Against The Machine, R.E.M., with other acts performing at the festival including Stereophonics, Amy Windehouse, KT Tunstall, Feeder, The Wombats, The Fratellis, The Kooks, Kaiser Chiefs, Kings of Leon, The Prodigy, Primal Scream, Chemical Brothers, Interpol, Ian Brown, The Racounteurs, Biffy Clyro, Counting Crows, The Pigeon Detectives, The Feeling, Hot Chip, The Charlatans, The Pogues, Ben Folds, Reverend & The Makers, Seasick Steve, The Courteeners, Lightspeed Champion, The Ting Tings, and many more.
