Liverpool Sound City returns for three days and nights from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th May 2016 and is held at multiple venues and spaces in Liverpool's Docklands.

Sound City utilises the existing industrial architecture and warehousing on the docks as unique venues whilst blending in a series of bespoke pop-ups, big tops and tents and for the first time an outdoor main stage.

In total, more than 400 acts from around the world will play to 25,000 people across 30 of Liverpool's venues for four days, with the traditional series of label showcases, late night sessions and parties also happening across the city.

Conference

Rebranded Sound City+ this year's conference will be purely artist and industry focused and take place on the day preceding the main festival - Friday 27 May – in the Rum Warehouse at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel. The content-heavy programme promises workshops, 1-2-1 meetings with UK and international record labels, agents, music supervisors and festivals from all over the world, sign-posting sessions and inspirational TED type talks through the day.

Def Poet - Black Ice, Paddy Considine, Sleaford Mods and Roisin Murphy will all be taking part in the festival's In Conversation series. There will be over 100 industry experts taking part in Sound City+ this year. A sample of these include Simon Raymonde (CEO, Bella Union), Li Hui Shen (CEO Modern Sky Entertainment), Wally Van Middendorp (Senior Vice President, International, Roadrunner Records), Sammy Andrews (Sabotage New Media). Throughout the day a series of incisive and insightful TED-style talks will engage delegates on key topics affecting today’s industry. The TED-style talk programme includes Matt Parsons, founder of Ditto Music, looking at how artists can start a label and distribute their own music without the backing of a major label. Legendary Creation Records founder Alan McGee will be discussing his incredible career and his new nationwide campaign - Musicians Against Homelessness.

Sound City+ will also host an independent label market, featuring Sire Records, Domino, Heavenly, Bella Union and China’s biggest independent - Modern Sky Entertainment - plus many more to be announced.

Other content includes DJ workshops hosted by Manchester Midi School featuring Ben Pearce, Tom Lonsborough and DJ Mark One. CEO of 6 Degrees Entertainment Nathalie Du Bois will curate a host of Sync Sessions including panels, workshops and meetings with CEO of BASCA Vick Bain, Head of Sky Music Peter Bradbury, Head of BBC Music Licensing Nicky Bignall, film and TV composer Nainita Desai, PRS Chairman Guy Fletcher OBE, composer and producer David Lowe and Lime Pictures Music Supervisor Kate Blakemore. Drowned in Sound will curate a series of panel talks: DIY or DIE - Doing it yourself In the digital age; Beyond Blogs and The Devil Is In The Data -Why you really shouldn’t care about your stats, and instead focus on building relationships and fans and sales. They will also be debating podcasts, playlists, promoting gigs and much more.

Sound City's 'In Conversation' series is also changing with a move to the festival site so that everyone attending has the chance to see and be inspired by them - the guests are yet to be announced.

Conferences

Taking place on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th May, in the Rum Warehouse at The Titanic Hotel, on Stanley Dock the international music conference will debate, discuss and highlight key issues with the contemporary music business with seasoned veterans and younger voices, the commemorative John Peel World Cup, and legendary keynote speakers and special guests. LSC also helps the creative industry to grow and evolve is an integral part of LSC's ethos, with networking, education and skills development a central part of the main event.

Wristbands

Wristbands will be available at the Kiosk from Midday on the Wednesday and must be collected in person by the lead booking name, with a valid proof of ID. Sound City Kiosks will be located in the centre of the festival circuit on Seel Street, Liverpool.

Sound City wristbands allow entry to ALL Liverpool Sound City 2015 branded gigs including those at The Epstein Theatre, on a first come first served basis subject to the individual venues capacity. Please note some gigs will be 18+ only.

Accommodation

The festival offers no accommodation at the event. There are plenty of accommodation options available in the city.
