Sensoria runs from Friday 29th April until Sunday 8th May 2011 as a celebration of the artforms of music and film. Sensoria takes place at various venues in Sheffield and its supporters include Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley, Martyn Ware, The Long Blondes, Reverend and the Makers and Richard H. Kirk (formerly of Cabaret Voltaire).

Line-up

Bill Drummond has been announced as Sensoria's first composer in residence, based at Sheffield Forgemasters. Other highlights In The Nursery, Sieben, Job Karma, Neil McSweeney and David Thomas Broughton.

The Washington pub are presenting Off With Their Heads - 29th April - 1st May. A three day live music festival of lovingly chosen Sheffield acts and DJs. No schmaltz. No flag waving. Just killer bands. Featuring The Violet May, Pete David and the Payroll Union, Death Rays of Ardilla, The Ratells and more.

SensoriaPro industry event speakers include Feargal Sharkey, Mary Anne Hobbs, John Robb, Dave Simpson and Martyn Ware (Heaven 17, Future of Sound), who will also present his installation Diaspora Magnet (part of Echo City project presented at the Venice Biennale) throughout the festival.

Sensoria is a festival of film and music whose home is Sheffield – a city renowned for its creative and technical innovation and one rich in musical heritage. The festival has risk taking and innovation at its core – it is informal and informative; Sensoria loves to provide access, raise aspiration and work to encourage new talent on an ongoing basis.

Sensoria Street Party

The festival opens on Royal Wedding Day with a Sensoria Street Party? Sensoria will be taking over Sheffield's Devonshire Street for a day of alfresco entertainment, including buskers and children's entertainers.

There will also be a market on Devonshire Green throughout the day. Devonshire Market will feature over 70 stalls as well as live music and street entertainers. The event will also boast a wine shop, a cocktail bar and a host of gourmet foods and is organised by the team behind Tramlines festival.

Sensoria continues to take to the streets from 4th - 7th May, with Screen On The Square presenting themed daily programmes of films including hip hop and streetdance, plus musicals, live performance films and Sheffield on Film.
