Celebrating Plymouth's multicultural society with a fusion of music, performance, arts and information. The festival is based around the Guildhall and City Centre Plazas. The annual Plymouth Respect Festival takes place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th October.

Many cultures are represented including: Nigerian, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, Lebanese, Kosovan, Greek, and Mongolian.

The festival has performances from a wide variety of artists including: Baluji Shrivastav, Samba Showdown, Shoot the Crow, Kujawy, The Pearl of Africa Children's Choir, Seikou Susso, Too Hot, Bellydance workshop with Ameera, Tango workshop with Vida de Tango, Children Storytelling with Seikou Susso, Percussion workshop with Truro School of Samba, Samba workshop with Truro School of Samba, Nachdey Hasdey and the City of Plymouth Pipe Band, Braga Tanga, Charlotte Glasson Band, Chimanimani, Beat Breakers, Weapons of Sound, PMZ and Scope disability Music Group, Kagemusha Taiko performance and interactive workshop, Chinese Dragon Dance, Street Factory,- Luke Lundin and Jamie Rowland, Abantu Arts, Dennis Chicongo, The Scribes performing with PMZ's Street Beatz, Christel, Marywan, Dynamic Youth Dance Company performing 'If everybody looked the same', Dr Joel, World Clothers Show, Nachdey Hasdey, Roots of India, and Tziganarama.

New for this year is the Samba Saturday, when the cream of the South West's samba bands including Truro School of Samba, Drumba Samba, Energia Samba band + Andigwa Dance, and Crooked Tempo, gathering in the city centre to turn Plymouth into Rio de Janeiro.

The B-bar in Plymouth's Barbican Theatre is showing Respect4Respect by hosting a gig by Baluji Shrivastav on Friday 24th October, tying in with the Plymouth Respect Festival. Tickets are £10 in advance or on the door.

There are also workshops, children's activities, stalls with information and world food give aways plus, on Sunday there's a parade with bagpipes and bhangra drums starting from the sundial, Armada Way at 10.30am. The music will be as culturally varied as the festival itself, with the Nachdey Hasdey Bhangra Band and the City of Plymouth Pipe Band, both in the parade. The parade is for the young people. This year Barefoot - the Plymouth Arts Education Agency - is organising activities in schools building up to the big day.
