Pestalozzi Global Fusion 2005

Set in the 175 acre Pestalozzi Estate, this world music festival celebrates multicultural Britain. The Pestalozzi charity helps to educate students from low-income famililies in rural areas of developing countries.
The festival aims to promote the similarities between cultures by hosting artists who demonstrate shared influences through their music, crafts, storytelling and puppetry.

This year, artists include: Sly and Robbie(headlining), The Dhol Foundation, Celloman featuring Ballet Black, Kamakura, Anna Mudeka, The Birmingham Community Gospel Choir with Nana Tsiboe, Maambena and Jugnu Bhangra (who will also be leading dance workshops from the main stage) with more to be confirmed. Comedian, Gina Yashere, a graduate of Comic Relief’s Fame Academy will be joining them, as well as participating in debate on the storytelling stage.

Other activities set to take place on the storytelling stage include tales from Sub Saharan Africa with Musi Katerere, Spud & Yam, Richard West, Pat Robson and Jane Bom-Bane with her mechanical hats.

There will also be family workshops throughout the weekend, including dance, drumming and capoeira in the workshops tent (which will also play host to live DJ’s on Saturday night), a global crafts fair, circus skills, stilt walkers and even a visit form Little Bo Peep and there will be two performances on the main stage from the Pestalozzi students themselves.

Gates open around 11.30am, if last year is anything to go by. Hostel accomodation is available on site at £10 per night (Early booking advised). A camping pitch is available.
TICKETS: Prices increase slightly after 11th June. Day and weekend tickets are available without camping too. Camping is £5 per night. Free admission for under 10's.
