The Trafalgar Square Festival takes its inspiration from the Mayor of London's India Now season, with three weeks of outdoor dance, theatre and spectacle, designed to illustrate the creative connections between London and India.

The programme reflects and celebrates Indian culture through dance, theatre, music and visual art. Highlights include: a dance extravaganza combining ballet with Bharatanatyam; hundreds of Indian bells and performers suspended from a crane; and choreography on motor scooters!

The programme is as follows:
Week One:
Thursday 2nd August - Sunday 5th August: Shiva Dance by Vena Ramphal (UK); and Dreaming Now by Akademi (UK).
Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd August: Londindia by Heir of Insanity (UK)/ Niraj Chag (India)/ Sapnay School of Dance (UK)
Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th August: 3KON by Nritarutya (India).

Week Two
Thursday 9th - Sunday 12th August: Nagarantharan by Attakalari Centre (India) and Juggernaut - Tara in the Sky by Tara Arts (UK)(but NOT on Friday 10th August).
Friday 10th August: Bells by Theatre Tol (Belgium)/ Naresh Kapuria( India) / Akademi (UK).
Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th August: Quick! By Nina Rajarani (UK).

Week Three
Thursday 16th August from 6pm, Friday 17th from 8pm, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th August from 3pm: Namastey Trafalgar Square by Les Passager (France)/ Joan Pires (UK)/ Niraj Chag (India).

Events take place in Trafalgar Square every weekend every Thursday through til Sunday, for three weeks. Starting times, where not listed above, are as follows: Thursdays 6pm / Fridays 8pm / Saturday & Sundays 3pm.
