The Spice Festival runs for two weeks as a celebration of the unique cultural life of Hackney. The festival combines a series of individual events featuring artists based in and around Hackney.

This years festival will showcase over fifty events in and around the Hackney Empire including music, art, comedy, drama, fashion, roller skating, film, clubbing, literature, food, comedy, dance, cabaret, puppetry, poetry & dance.

The Spice House Roller Disco is a new addition for this year's festival. Sunday 15th July will see a huge market of work from designers and makers from Hackney with food and entertainment from all over the world all with that touch of carnival spice.

Many of the events at The Spice Festival are free, but prices vary depending on the event. Events so far include performances from Journeyman, Sign Unsigned, Spice On Skates, 30years Of Rar, Angus Ferguson, Stephen Berkoff, Sarah Lucas, Lost Pirates, Back To Kathleens, Barbara Windsor, Barry Flannagan Norman Jay, Dirty Pretty Things, Chibuku Shake Shake, Guilty Pleasures Roller Disco, Signed Unsigned, Poetry Olympics, Slippery Fish, Greg Mcclaren, Love Music Hate Racism, Hair Riots, Echange Theatre, 19-27, Gavin Turk, and The Colony Room.
