Fancy dress theme

This year Kendal Calling is going to throw its most colourful celebration to date! From the samba-shaking streets of Rio – to the stunningly scenic hills of the Lake District – Kendal Callings Carnival of Colour, is going to be an eclectic mix of magnificent parades, feathery frolics and frenetic energy. This will influence the decor plus the performance art  with the whole site in-keeping with the theme.

Lost Eden

The 'Lost Eden' woodlands of Kendal Calling return for a 2nd year with newly commissioned sculptures, performance art, talks, pop up cinema, virtual reality and more. It's centrepiece will be a gigantic illuminated spider by The Lantern Company and a Mechanical Heart of the Forest. The latter commission is presented by artist Felicity Jones, who has created sculptures for Glastonbury and Burning Man. The ephemeral steel and copper structure, pulsing with smoke and light into the small hours. The returning Carvetti Stage will host Post War Glamour Girls, Barry Hyde, The Hey Down Treaders, Mye Mi, Tom Peel, Rory Connor, LIVI, Beachmaster, Parade Close, Jake Houlsby, Dansi, Pop-up Puppet Cinema, and Twogood. New this year is The Lost Disco, a DJ booth inside a giant disco ball, opening at 8pm with a line-up including Kag Katumba, Soul Swing, Act.Natural, Kerouac, Symetrik, Twogood, Olsen, Kahwe, House of Wax, Carl Tait, Justkeys, Ki Creighton, Matt Robinson, and Mike Barty.
