Hatherleigh's music and arts festival is now in its 16th year. This year the festival returns to Hatherleigh town square from Thursday 28th to Sunday 31st July, four days of street performances, music, workshops, and exhibitions.

Line-up

Thursday
Opening Parade and show: Circus Allsorts, Ros Chard (Town Crier) and Hatherleigh Silver Band.
Evening: Ed Lane, and Mariners Away.

Friday
During the day: workshops for Children and Adults.
Evening: The Take That Experience - Community Centre £10.
There will also be 3 artists playing in the square : Zuby, I am in Love, & Killamonjambo.
Also on Friday sees Roger Cleverdon presenting a celebration of the music of Flanders and Swann.

Saturday
All day: Workshops, street market and food starting at 12 noon in the Market Square.
From 2pm: The Hog Ranch, Dan The Hat, Rob Dave and Izzy, Josie Lloyd, The Ten Five Sixty, Century Man.
Evening: Black Friday.

Sunday
Day: Combined Church Service in Town Square at 11am with St Thomas Gospel Choir.
Afternoon: Hatherleigh Young Players will perform 'Winnie the Pooh and Friends' in the Community Centre with cake and candles, songs, dance and merriment, and Roger Cleverdon's Organ Recital.
Evening: Closing this year's event will be Trevor Littledale's one man show 'Two Halves of Guinness' £10.

On site

The Street Market, in the Town Square, offers crafts including unique jewellery, handmade glass, basket wear, floral creations and the quality eats gazebo, from lunchtime Saturday onwards, with Pig Roast, BBQ, Crepes, Fresh Fruit cups, and Creative Cupcakes with the local public houses only strides away.

Art Exhibitions will be running over the 4 days at venues all over the town. Tea Rooms – Café Characters, Old Schools – Celebration of Devon's Wildlife and Countryside, Commerce House House of Glass, The Pottery – Ceramic and Stone, The Vine – Festival Print Shop, Community Centre – Hatherleigh Art Group, Crafty Angels – Knit and Natter and the Salar Gallery – Foot and Mouth 10 years on.

Workshops

There will be workshops including A Messy Play session hosted by Hatherleigh Children's Centre, A two hour Animation Workshop facilitated by West Devon Family, Patchwork and Pin Cushion making hosted by Jane Austin, OCRA who will be holding a Fencing workshop and Orienteering, Musical Instrument Workshop facilitated by West Devon Learning, Torrington based Streetz Dance Crew, Japanese Folded Patchwork and Redwork Embroidery workshops hosted by Marilyn Hornby, drop in printing workshop in the Vine and stool making with Ben Mays.

Tickets

Hatherleigh Festival was set up to bring new and exciting experiences to the local community so events are as keenly priced as possible, and many of them are free. Tickets for the workshops, The Take That Experience and Trevor Littledale are available now by calling the Box Office on 01837 810624.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
