An all-age inclusive friendly arts festival with its roots in the Christian faith which offers a host of world music, international and home-grown acts from big names to new artists. The dates for 2009 will be the bank holiday weekend from Friday 28th to Monday 31st August.
Greenbelt is a place to learn, to experience, to be. As well as music the festival hosts a selection of varied talks, workshop and debates; exploring contemporary issues, faith, social justice, politics and more. Greenbelt 09's theme is Standing in the Long Now.
Confirmed to appear are Stu G, Shlomo, Miriam Jones, thebandwithnoname, LZ7, Love & Joy Gospel Choir, yfriday, and Mundo Jazz.
Greenbelt has announced the speakers on the bill who include Rob Bell, David Lammy MP, Rita Nakashima-Brock, Tamsin Omond, Douglas Alexander MP, Giles Fraser, Verene Nicolas, Ann Morisy, Alastair McIntosh, Bev Thomas, Vic Thiessen, Mark Vernon, Jeff Halper Diana Francis, Susannah Cornwall, Roman Krznaric, Pádraig Ó Tuama, Matt Page, and Sami Awad.
Greenbelt also has a visual and performing arts programme, as well as exploring a variety of alternative worship styles, and runs a daily Children's Festival, plus literature, classical, film, and youth programes.
