More info

The new Music and Arts Fringe is the brainchild of Sara Clay of Glastonbury Community Development Trust, is aimed at putting Glastonbury – the Town – back on the map by showcasing its vibrant local music and arts scene under one banner and telling the world about it in a series of independent local events drawing people into the 'real' Glastonbury.

Getting involved

Anyone wanting to get involved or more information about the Fringe should contact the Glastonbury Fringe via the GCDT OppShop, Unit 7 Abbey Mews, 56 – 58 High Street, Glastonbury, BA6 9DY, tel 01458 830304 or e-mail the Fringe team at info@glastonbury-fringe.org.uk.

The size and scope of the Fringe has exceeded all expectations, "We originally were thinking about a small-scale programme over a few days, with perhaps three or four events per night," says Sara Clay. "The idea was simply to demonstrate the benefits of joining up individual creative efforts under one banner to publicise the town. We never expected it to grow this big so quickly it really is Glastonbury magic!"

Sara Clay also said, "In a sense, this town is already something like a fringe festival, year round. Ideally, this will be First Annual Glastonbury Fringe. The simple idea is that if Glastonbury people can come together around this idea and if works and they enjoy it, and if it starts to boost tourist footfall and spend in town, people will want to do it again. And again."

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
