On the back of his two most recent albums - and nearly all the material played came from those two albums - David Gray was to an extent always going to be well received by the Glastonbury crowd. The fact that he was welcomed almost as a homecoming hero underlines how much Gray has managed to wriggle his way into not just the festival going populations affections but the nations as a whole. With nearly all the crowd willing him on, he did not disappoint. With a near perfect sound, he played favourite after favourite, and in keeping with the vibe of Glastonbury he turned his four minute songs into epic pieces of imaginative and stimulating work, using everything to his advantage; from upbeat dance sorties to the near perfect sunset.

Favourites such as "Please Forgive me" and "Babylon" were intermingled with newer numbers such as "Other Side" and a marvellous re-working of the old standard "Whiskey in the Jar" (which prompted a nearby spotty oik to comment "Why is he covering Metallica songs?").

A marvellous performance, one that left the writer without a beer for the longest time all weekend. And coming from this author, that is high enough praise in itself.
