Pyramid Stage Friday 9.20pm

Faithless seem to have gained an unfair reputation for producing ‘middle class’ dance music but this evening they succeeded in rocking the main stage at Glastonbury in one of the champion performances of the weekend. Their live set is always good at getting a crowd moving and the promotion to the main stage this year certainly paid off.

Faithless

The guts of the set combined tracks from Sunday 8pm and Outrospective. Highlights included the opening with Take The Long Way Home, Bring My Family Back and Mohammad Ali. Sometime song writer and mostly backing vocalist Zoe Johnstone also gave a lovely rendition of her Crazy English Summer….how apt! But it was the two most famous Faithless anthems that packed the biggest punch, a fantastic We Come 1 that seemed to go on forever and the encore of God Is A DJ.

Faithless

How cool is Maxi Jazz? Sometimes an unsung hero of the Faithless act, he oozes charisma on stage and combines his mellow voice with antics and crowd involvement to extract the most from Faithless’ hugely enjoyable dance beats to stir the audience into a frenzy. They played the crowd beautifully and for just over an hour the main stage pulsated. This surely was one of the best performances of the weekend.
