Futuresonic Live 2009

Futuresonic is an international festival of Art, Music and Ideas now in its 13th year offering both digital culture and music which takes place at various venues, clubs in Manchester and Salford. Futuresonic 2009 and the Social Technologies Summit will take place from Wednesday 13th until Saturday 16th May 2009.

The festival presents exhibitions, conferences, performances and events, including many world firsts, with a focus on participatory artworks which re-imagine the city.

The music programme so far announced includes:
Thursday: Murcof & Anti VJ, Johann Johannsson, Denis Jones, Urbis Anti-Pop Consortium, DJ Woody, Peter Parker, Rich Reason, Just Good Beats, and ELAVI.
Friday: Electric Wizard, Xela, The Freezing Fog, Nancy Elizabeth, Soap&Skin, Ultre, Toddla T & MC Serocee, Hudson Mohawke, Tim Exile, Daedelus, DIY Soundsystem, Daniele Baldelli, Holroyd, Extra Life, Icy Demons, Deaf to Van Goghs Ear, and Bring on the Dancing Horses DJs.
Saturday: Philip Glass, Daniele Baldelli, James Holroyd, Cosmic Disco DJs, Ariel Pink, Marnie Stern, Times New Viking, Crystal Antlers, Now Wave DJs, Stop Making Sense DJs, Kode 9, Zomby, Actress, HATE Soundsystem, Tobias, Efdemin, Move D, Me&You DJ, and Faktion DJs.

Now in its 14th year, Futuresonic is an urban festival experience, it is anticipated that over 50,000 festival visitors will engage with 300 artists and 100 events across 30 venues.

Futuresonic will present artworks exploring the social, Environment 2.0, technology and the city, with a focus on artworks that are participatory, sited in public space, and in an urban context.
