Now a two day event the annual Flying Pig Festival will be taking place on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th July 2013. The small family friendly charity festival takes place on Sandhill Farm airfield near Shrivenham in Oxfordshire, about 5 miles East of Swindon.

The site is an active gliding club, The Vale of White Horse Gliding Centre. Weather permitting gliding takes place during the festival and it is possible for festival attendees to book trial gliding lessons at a considerable discount. Organisers also expect to have a sky diving demonstration during the festival from Skydive London based nearby at Redlands airfield. Plus vintage cars and vintage aircraft on display.

Line-up

Friday: Josie and the Outlaw, Jane Likes Books, Hyperbolics, Blind Dog Blues Band, The Ashun, Phill Baker, Charlie Ann.

Saturday: Reachbach, Apple Shift Seven, Nudybronque, Russ Payne & The Shark Dentists, The Man With The Stereo Hands, Sky Burns Red, All Ears Avow (were Mortdelamer), Truly Ford, The Damned and the Dirty, The Shapes, Out of the Blue, All the Clever Lines, Hey Joe, Adina & Johnson, and Andy Robbins.

In previous years the event has only been held on the Saturday with camping encouraged so that people don't have to travel home after the event. This year the Flying Pig will include both Friday and Saturday, and again camping is encouraged. Last year there were around 14 local bands playing from 2pm to 2AM. With the additional day expect rather more bands this year. The music style is broad and high quality from R&B and blues to Rock-a-billy and hard rock.

Tickets

Tickets are priced at £20 for a weekend ticket (add £5 for camping per tent, RV's and caravans £10. A teen (aged under 16 years) weekend ticket is priced at £10, with children aged under 12 years able to attend for free. A Friday only day ticket is priced at £7 for adults, and £3.50 under 16s. A Saturday only day ticket is priced at £16 for adults, and £8 under 16s. To buy tickets, click here.

Organisers will have use of one of the aircraft hangars and a couple of marques so there will be enough room for every one to keep dry should it rain.

The festival is a charity event in support of the Thames Valley, Chiltern Air Ambulance, Freya Beya, Viscountess Barrington's Trust Memorial Hall Fund, and The Alzheimers Society. None of the organisers or performers are paid. The object is more to have a good time than to make a lot of money.

More information will be here when available.
