Evolution Music Festival expands to two days this year, with a crowd of 60,000 expected over the weekend and culminating in the outdoor shows at Spiller's Wharf and Baltic Square on the Gateshead quayside on the Bank Holiday weekend, Sunday 24th and Monday 25th May.
With the outdoor event having two stages and an unsigned stage, along the quay, the Evolution festival is expected to host a wide spectrum of music, taking the festival goer from jazz to punk, from reggae to folk.
The line-up includes Dizzee Rascal, The Wombats, Mystery Jets, The view, The Maccabees, White Lies, Friendly Fires, Ladyhawke, Little Boots, Nouvelle Vague, Twisted Wheel, Imelda May, VV Brown, and more.
Plus a dance stage at Baltic Square which includes Dance Stage Boys Noize, Chase & Status, Kissy Sell Out, The Count & Sinden, Krafty Kuts & Dynamite MC, Rusko, Japanese Pop Stars, Brodinski, Yuksek, and James Yuill.
There is also a range of indoor gigs around the event, all priced at £10, including Po Girl, Thomas Dybdahl, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Semi Mojo Revue, Pete Molinari, Holly Golightly, Andi Almqvist, Sweet, and DJ Ironik, and Blackout Crew.

This year there will also be a Third Stage - The Newcastle College Unsigned Stage at Spiller's Wharf which will feature unsigned talent from the North East alongside bands from the College's Performance Academy. Acts include on Sunday - Root Sounds, Purple Shards, Saint and the Cynics, Sour Pretty, Illustrators, Small Screen Light Show, and Ever Since the Lake Caught Fire. Monday has Chronic Supersonic / Babysnakes, Black Sun, Styles Makes Mights, Stefanja, Trev Gibb, Pioneers of Mediocrity, and Bubble Project.
