A festival for those who like to play and listen to the didgeridoo, showcasing the best of contemporary didgeridoo playing from the UK and abroad.

Didghead Radio Festival is to take place at The Water Mill, Calbourne, Isle of Wight from Friday 7th until Sunday 9th August 2009.

The final line-up for the week-end event includes signing aboriginal dancer, storyteller and singer Jermaine Herbohn from the Tjapukai Cultural Park Australia and techno didge band from the Czech Republic KusKusKlan. Plus Dubravko Lapaine (Croatia), Ben Hewlett, Gauthier (France), Jermaine Herbohn (Australia), RAZH (Ukraine), Lukas Pilnaj (Czech Republic), AIRtist (Hungary/Germany), Didges Brew (Germany), Martin Oloughlin (Australia), Whiteants (Australia), Zalem (France), Nostoc (France), Alda-Man (Czech Republic), Goayandi (France), Frank Heinkel (Germany), Iboga (France), WaDohm (France), Kangaroo Moon, Gavin Blench, Kagemusha Festival Group,Steve Frost, Pinkyumbrella, Didgebeat, Kev Howard, Outwood, Rob Mantz, Steve Heath, Cephalapod, John Thorpe, Sandy, Dave Chapman, John Brice, Matt Platt, Greenheart, Unidos, FaT Samba, Spirit of the Drum, and Colin & Rami.

Although the didgeridoo is the featured instrument of the festival a diverse range of virtuoso playing can be heard from such instruments as the Swiss hang, Japanese fujara, Thai khene, North African birembou, Russian balalaika, North American and Ukrainian flutes, jaw harps and throat and overtone singers.

Island samba and djembe drum groups will also be performing along with the Kagamusha Taiko Festival troupe.

There are lots of things to entertain the whole family including fire displays from Ryde Extreme and various music workshops to suit all abilities.

Most of the performers at the festival will be offering tuition/seminar type workshops so you can learn to play or find out more about particular instruments. Workshop will include: Didgeridoo playing for beginners to advanced, Jaw harp playing, Throat singing, and Beatboxing. There will also be a two day 'make your own didge' workshop offered by Ant Scott of AnticEarthworks.

The events offers all day and evening entertainment, in nice surroundings, with lots of nice things for the kids to do. There will be a cafe on site, and a stall on the campsite to help with additional information needs.

Access to the campsite site is from noon on Friday 7th August. The site must be clear by midday on Monday 10th August. You can book additional camping nights before or after the festival week-end.

Tickets are on sale, priced at £45 adult for a weekend camping ticket and £15 for a day ticket. Teens (14-17) are £25 for weekend camping or £10 per day, and children (5-13) are £10 for the weekend or £5 per day. To buy tickets, click here.
