One of Scotland's most predominant mid-winter music festivals, which attracts the Celtic and World music talent from around the globe, with more than 150 acts performing around the city of Glasgow. Celtic Connections takes place from Thursday 17th January until Sunday 3rd February 2013.

Line-up

More than 2100 artists will take part in 300 events in over 20 venues across Glasgow. These include Bellowhead, Sam Carter, Bella Hardy, Lucy Ward, Spiro, Tom McConville, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Julie Fowlis, Kate Rusby, Amy Helm, Fiddlers' Bid, Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares, Aimee Mann, Caravan Palace, Sheena Wellington, Flook, Cara Dillon, Eddi Reader, Eric Bibb, Dick Gaughan, Cowboy Junkies, The Mavericks, Little Feat, The Animals, The Be Good Tanyas, Salif Keita, Vicente Amigo, Glen Hansard, Anais Mitchell, Carminho, Carlos Nunez, Paul Brady, Duncan Chisholm, Dougie MacLean, Karine Polwart, Roddy Hart, Aoife O'Donovan, Capercaillie, Manran, Mike Heron, Aly Bain, Rura, Skerryvore, Goitse, Kila, Mulatu Astatke, Rua Macmillan, Nic Jones, Three Blind Wolves, This is the Kit, Moulettes, Aimee Mann, and more. Tickets

Venues

New venues for the 2013 festival include the city's museum and mark gallery to help mark the festival's 20th year. Kelvingrove will play host to several events, including a huge Burns Night celebration. The festival will also return to the Barrowland Ballroom after a break of several years. Various venues across Glasgow are utilised for Celtic Connections 2013 such as the Main Auditorium in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, O2 ABC, The Tron, Òran Mór, The Arches, The Mitchell Theatre, City Halls, Kelvingrove, The Barrowland Ballroom, St Andrews in the Square and festival fans' favourite the Old Fruitmarket will all play host to Celtic Connections events. Many events sell out very quickly and as well as the predictably popular artists, there are also many specialist events.

Highlights

Other highlights to expect include the nightly Celtic Connections Festival Club (for season ticket holders), free schools concerts in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, the free Open Stage Sessions at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall Exhibition Hall, workshops every weekend, ceilidhs, late night sessions, talks, films and dance.
