Bath Music Festival takes place from 22nd May until 6th June, bringing together classical, jazz, world, folk and electronica in the beautiful setting of Bath.

Performances take place across the city in a variety of venues including the Assembly Rooms, The Forum, the Pavilion, the Guildhall and Bath Abbey. The festival ends with an outdoor show in the heart of the city featuring a Brazilian Orchestra.

There's a programme featuring an eclectic lively mix of classical, contemporary, jazz, world, electronica and folk music. The main event happens on the opening day, Friday 22 May, with the Party in the City which includes a festival procession starting at the Pavilion, moving through the city to the Abbey.

The Party in the City includes the commission 'Underneath' by Stephen Hiscock, which uses steel pans, recorders, harps, choir, percussion and saxes performed by hundreds of school children all over the Abbey, accompanied by a solo whale. The party ends with fireworks and a headline show at the Pavilion, Mali's great African dance band led by the brilliant blues guitarist, Vieux Farka Touré.
