Grace Jones to headline Afropunk's Power to the Party replacing MIA

Grace Jones will headline American alternative collective Afropunk's first UK event Power to the Party, taking place in London's Alexandra Palace on Saturday 24th September 2016. She replaces the previously announced MIA.

Also added to the bill are Laura Mvula, Kwabs, Noisettes, Loyle Carner, Goldlink, Joe Kay, The Whooligan, Hannah Faith, Eden Hagos, Mnek, Lady Leshurr, Skinny Girl Diet, Jorja Smith, Big Joanie, Nova Twins, Vodun, The Connectors, and Mikel Ameen.

They join a line-up that already includes the UK debut of SZA, Word Sound Power - a spoken word collaborative project between Akala, Dreadzone and Don Letts, plus Benjamin Booker, Gaika, Ho99o9, Purple Ferdinand, Cakes da Killa, Vodun, Youth Man, Soulection, and NTS Radio. On top of this, there’ll be the SpinThrift Market hosting traders who make bespoke goods, crafts, and textiles, plus a curated food truck rally, pop up restaurants, arts and more.

Tickets are priced at £55.

The twelve hour event will also host a vibrant space filled with artists, creatives, designers, exhibitions and food vendors. Attendees are encouraged to jump in and become a part of the Afropunk community through on-site pop-ups, art and stalls - it’s about creating an extended family of Afropunk with a united voice to be heard and celebrated. On-site arts, stalls, food, DJ sets and extras to be announced in the coming months.
