Cara Dillon to headline Bristol Folk Festival

Cara Dillon will be the Sunday headline act for the indoor Bristol Folk Festival held over May Day Bank Holiday next year.

Cara is also patron of Bristol Folk Festival's sister event, the inaugural Frome Folk Festival, which takes place in her Somerset home town next February.

As well as Ireland's Cara Dillon, Scottish songstress Karine Polwart has also been announced and will appear with her brother Steven Polwart (guitars, ukelele, vocals) and Fair Isle accordionist and vocalist Inge Thomson on the opening day (Saturday 5th May).

They will be joined on the bill by the previously announced folk duo Show of Hands with Miranda Sykes who will headline on the opening night of the three day event. No other acts have been been announced yet.

Festivalgoers can be guaranteed no wet weather problems as the whole event will take place on two stages in the city's Colston Hall running from Saturday 5th May until Monday 7th May 2012.

As well as up to 40 acts, the festival will feature Morris dancers, mummers and maypoles, ceilidhs,and singalong sessions. Bank Holiday Monday headliners will be announced soon. Seth Lakeman is the festival's patron.

Early Bird tickets are on sale until 30th December priced at £65 for the three days (concessions £55). Family tickets are priced at £200 (2 adults and two children aged 5-15) and under 5s go free.

Those wanting to camp for the festival will be able to stay a minutes walk from the venue at St Mary-on-the-Quay church. The church in Colston Street will welcome campers to its hall for just £12 a night (under 15s must be accompanied by a responsible adult and are full price but under 5s go free.)
