Police are appealing for festival goers to help identify a man they want to trace who carried out an unprovoked assault on a woman at Isle of Wight Festival on the last day of the festival.

Detectives have released a picture of a man they want to trace who carried out an unprovoked assault on a 25-year-old woman from Southampton. Initial enquiries have established she was assaulted at around 8.30pm on Sunday, 12th June, 2011 while she was with three of her friends near a bar in the main arena.

They were walking towards one of the big screens in the main arena when it's alleged a man she did not know rugby tackled her for no reason.

The 25-year-old woman fell in the mud as a result and was injured. She was taken to hospital. She suffered a broken right tibia, a broken right ankle, and three torn ligaments in her right foot.

The injured woman, Mrs Jenna Goode, said: "Since the assault I have been in so much pain due to my injuries suffered. I spent six weeks in a wheelchair. I have suffered bad depression. Prior to this I was a very active person. I have a toddler to run around after and also enjoyed regular gym activity and horse riding. Still a couple of months down the line I am still struggling to walk and can only hope that in the next few months I can return to my way of life again."

Jenna's husband, Ben Goode said: "I had recently become self employed before Jenna's assault. Due to her injuries, she needed my assistance with almost everything. This massively reduced my ability to run a business, ultimately resulting in a lower income for my household."

Further enquiries since July have led to a photograph showing a man police wish to speak with about the assault allegation.

The picture shows a man in the Isle of Wight Festival main arena at around the time the woman was injured at 8.30pm on Sunday, 12th June.

This man or anyone who knows him is asked to contact Isle of Wight CID by phoning 101 or emailing iow.cid@hampshire.pnn.police.uk.

From outside Hampshire and the Isle of Wight , call police on 0845 045 45 45. Mini-Com users can call the police on 01962 875000. Information can be given anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

The Isle of Wight Festival took place from Friday 10th until Sunday 12th June 2011 at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight.
