Vintage at Goodwood 2011 is cancelled

Portsmouth Today are reporting, (here), that Vintage at Goodwood festival due to be held in August 2011 has been cancelled.

Vintage at Goodwood was the brainchild of designers Gerardine and Wayne Hemingway. The family friendly music and fashion led celebration of creative British cool from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s and fashion festival arrived on the festival scene last year, and was scheduled to make a return, however founders Lord March and Wayne and Geraldine Hemingway have confirmed it will not now be going ahead this year.

The event was set to feature DJs, bands, fashion, art and design, film, comedy, burlesque, catwalk shows, exhibitions, vintage clothing and vintage vinyl from each decade, as well as contemporary bands and brands inspired by Britain's cultural history. Last year saw it host the first performance by Sandie Shaw for over twenty years.

Organisers revealed that the inaugural year had put a great deal of pressure on the business and planning process at Goodwood, due to its busy summer calendar, and instead The Hemingways are planning to take the Vintage concept on tour.

The festival was due to take place on the weekend of Friday 12th until Sunday 14th August 2011 at Goodwood in Chichester, West Sussex.
