Eighties glaswegian pop band Deacon Blue, have been announced as the Sunday headliners for this year's The Acoustic Festival of Britain.

Deacon Blue
Deacon Blue were formed in Glasgow in 1985 and quickly established themselves as one of the biggest bands of the decade. Their debut album, 'Raintown', spent 77 weeks in the UK chart, but it was just the first of five top-five albums – two of which were number one. 'Dignity' was their first of 18 top 40 singles, although 'Real Gone Kid' which was released in 1989 was probably the band's greatest chart success.

The band split up in 1994, and five years later, returned with a reunion gig, and a new album, 'Walking Back Home', with the band now working on a part-time basis. 2006 saw Deacon Blue returning to the studio to record three new tracks for a Singles album including the track 'Bigger than Dynamite'.

Deacon Blue are joined by headliner Supertramp singer Roger Hodgson at the top of a bill that includes The Christians, Imelda May, The Animals, Dodgy, Baka Beyond, Chris Difford, The Blow Monkeys, Miles Hunt, Albert Lee, Martyn Joseph, Aziz Ibrahim, Mungo Jerry, and a special Woodstock event which will pay tribute to Joni Mitchell and Crosby Stills Nash & Young. The festival returns in 2009 over the May Bank Holiday weekend of Friday 22nd to Monday 25th May at Catton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, South Derbyshire.
