Summer Sundae Weekender - which takes place in the grounds of De Montfort Hall, Leicester from Friday 11th - Sunday 13th August has announced the first acts for this year's fun.

The headliners are Belle & Sebastian, Elbow and José Gonzalez, and also playing are Delays, The Buzzcocks, The Long Blondes, Brakes, ¡Forward, Russia!, Baxter Dury, The Young Knives, Abentee, DJ Format, Adem, The Blockheads, Vashti Bunyan, and Seth Lakeman.

Festival Director Richard Haswell said: "We are delighted to be making the first very exciting announcements for Summer Sundae Weekender 2006. This will be the sixth year of the festival which is now very firmly established in the UK's festival calendar. People always comment on two aspects of the festival - its friendliness and the rich diversity of artists, and we are confident that with this line up - and more announcements to come - 2006 will be the best year yet."
