Camping from Thursday and no there are not any showers there, as I have an extra day of muck to contend with I am treating myself to a pamper sesion in the powder rooms on the Saturday morning, hair washed and dried and a lovely facial

Ooh, forgot that was there!!

I'm headed to the cash and carry for huge box of baby wipes!!!

I was in Orange and there was the odd very small spider in my tent.

Some mates were in Green. They said it wasn't too bad..

On the saturday morning, one of the lads (Paul) woke up to find he had a few visitors in his tent

So he gathered them up and put them on the barbie. He made a killing selling them for £2.50 a scoop. Half the price of most of the stalls and a lot more nutritious too.

I have never noticed a big problem with spiders at V. If you camp near to the tree's you might get a few money spiders but that is all it will be. You will be fine. :D

we camped in grey last year and were probably the youngest, i had no problem with this was really quiet toilets were clean up until monday when we were leaving.

food stands were open through the night and it was generally quite quiet.

this year i'd rather go to a more active campsite to be honest

anyone suggest a campsite which has the party spirit but isnt full to the brim?

This will be my 4th year at V. First two years I think we camped in yellow. Was V good. no problems. everyone friendly and could get sleep if needed.

due to traffic last year yellow was closed by the time we got there, ended up in red. It was awful. People running around all night shouting, people shouting their tents had been done over, people throwing mud at tent while we were sat outside it. eventually sunday night the police ended up there. Not sure why.

This year we are getting into yellow again or anywhere apart from red.

have not seen any spiders in either of those campsites but saw a stick insect!!

i've been in red for the last 2 years and i honestly havent seen whats so bad about it (hopefully this doesnt jinx it!) Yes its busy, you will be lucky to have any room outside your tent unless your clever about it!

It gets muddy since everyone uses red as a cut through to the further out sites and the toilets arent good either.

With everyone walking through there is a constant stream of noise of people walking past but nothing terrible, im not at a festival for peace and quiet and silence! I can sleep through noise pretty easily anyways.

Simply dont pitch your tent along the main walkway so that you dont get it wrecked by mud or people trampling it and you should be alright. Like any site - avoid going near the toilets or generators!

Oh and a big pro for certain parts of red (not sure if this applies to other sites) but in the right place you should be able to see (and hear) the main stage from your tent. So if there is an act your not too fussed about seeing but wouldnt mind ie the early ones, you can sit outside your tent with your BBQ and a can of beer and relax without missing the act. Did this with Pink 2 years ago. And i find it hard standing on my feet all day long so if its muddy like last 2 times so you cant sit down in the arena you have the option of sitting on a stool at your tent and relaxing

Yes, saw a group getting chucked out for it in '07 but loads of people do it, you spends your penny and you takes your chances...

Red campsite can be hit and miss, one year it was great, next we were next to some smackheads who tried to get into my friends tent, hearing her scream at stupid am was not the start to a Saturday I needed. Had to lamp the little git. He got ejected for drugs on Sunday morning so sounds like he brassed too many people off. Mind you its still a step up from the Reading riots I've experienced.

Gold

Pros

Spacious, there is room around your tent and you're not tripping over other peoples guide ropes.

Clean(er) toilets

Close to car park

Not noisy (in an offensive way)

Normally find that the crowd that inhabit Gold are pretty laid back and easy to get on with.

The ground is good for camping but there is a hill just before you get to the entrance to Red/Green

Cons

20 min walk from arena

I only found one set of food vans (was there any in other sites?)

Some people may find it too quiet

Pro's, it is were the love is at, Blind Mans porn

Really?! my mates a 27 year old virgin. We have always stayed in gold under the big tree. If anyone wants to do the business im sure he will finally become a man.........

Ooh, thanks tinkerbell and Squall moogle.

So I'm down to green or blue now, but got plenty of time to sort that out.

I really want it to be August now..

Is it too early to pack now?

Whats the likely hood of the campiste being open on thursday? Really don't wanna end up in red after reading this, have a 6 hour drive :(

Thanks for all the advice V goers!

I'm in yellow camp according to the email i got from the big green coach thingy, doesn't sound too good a thing ;)

And eeeep spiders

It's only Chelmsford that gets assigned campsites. At Weston Park, you can pitch where you like.
