Download have made some proper dodgy decisions in selecting Headliners before, maybe because they get occasionaly rejected by the big fish etc

But whats been the most unworthiest band to headline Download since it began?:

2003 - Audioslave

2004/2007-Linkin Park

2005 - Feeder

2007 - My Chemical Romance

2008 - Lostprophets

2008 - The Offspring

Audioslave and Feeder both headlined because the band playing above them cancelled. In case anyone doesn't know:

2003 - Limp Bizkit were supposed to play above Audioslave (can't remember why they dropped out)

2005 - Blink 182 were supposed to play above Feeder (but they broke up just before they could be announced)

To be honest, you could argue Tool. Their highest charting album only made #4 in the UK, and it disappeared pretty soon after that. I'm pretty sure every other headliner at Download has had at least one #1 album (maybe not Audioslave?) and have much more prominense in the mainstream in anyway.

Tool are a great band n all - don't get me wrong, but they're definitely one of the smaller bands to headline Download. I can't really remember how big Feeder were back in 2005, but they've definitely been bigger then Tool are various points in their career.

But yeah... it depends how you define 'worthy'.

Tool are an incredible band.

But what is a worthy headliner, because surely you can't judge it on something completely subjective, or something like talent where there are a million and one highly talented bands who will never ever get anywhere near big enough to play Download, not to mention headline.

:P 2006 Friday Mmmmmm

Tool

Deftones

Coheed

Whoever decided that is a pure legend!!

Yeah album sales Tool don't stand out in, but in terms of being innovative and one of a kind they've got it nailed to a tee! So i'm glad a band like that can be recognised as headliner worthy really, even if their set was wayyyy too short :P
