rhythm2006
I think it's time we stopped wallowing in the past and stepped up to the future! 2008 dates sorted, 2008 tickets now on sale (at early bird prices). As Neil might say (in respect of Reading V2008, etc): 'Get 'em quick!' So, I thought a new strand was called for. laider
2008 Here we come! Glad to see the dates are finalised now, no clashes for us we can still go to The Rock & Blues and Beautiful Days. Dreadzone on my wish list for next year and lots and lots of sunshine! William of Walworth
Some details here. Friday 29th to Sunday 31st August (this is the weekend after Bank Holiday weekend). Near Bedford. Steve Cropper with the Animals, Jah Wobble (that I will especially look forward to), Chas and Dave, Wilko Johnson .... old school! I'm sure more acts will be added. We're planning to go again -- it's where we first met last August, so Rhythm holds sentimental value for us. It's a pretty good festival. Anyone else planning to return, or give it a go for the first time?
DeadAmos
Yep givin it serious consideration as I'm not allowed to the Solfest Just waiting on info about the pitch size in the campervan field
timespeedsup
Yup, possibly as alternative to BD based on proximity, last year's line-up, good reports from last year, and more cash left in pocket after tickets bought.
William of Walworth
Proximity a definite attraction, I can get a direct train from the Elephant and Castle to Bedford, and would only need to take the Friday afternoon off beforehand

PastCaring
Last year's Rhythm Festival was one of the most enjoyable festies that we've been to. We'd recommend it just for the friendly laidback atmosphere alone!
hogsaway
Another big thumbs up here. First year 3 of us went. Last year 6. This year 9, possibly 12........ Very relaxed & great for the kids.
Sunny1
I'd recommend it too - been to the first two. My only problem for this year is the date move clashes with a major project at work which I need to get out of - might be difficult

rhythm2006
Rhythm Festival isn't really about being trendy or picking recent acts over older acts for the sake of it, it's about getting the best acts, which I think we've done. We're about legends who are legends because they were creative and did something new, not just because they listened to be best records or hired the best publicist. If we had a choice between Chuck Berry or Pete Doherty for the same money, you'd probably guess which way we'd go. We do have an emerging bands stage, where the V Festival and Glastonbury headliners of the future will undoubtedly be playing. The similarly wonderful Connect festival is the same weekend (up in Scotland) and they specialise in bands of a more recent vintage. The choice is there to be made. But I bet they don't have a solar-powered cinema, a digital funfair or Snugburys farmhouse ice cream in 22 delicious flavours! William of Walworth
Richie Havens is a legend, I'd go to see him alone, but of course there's loads of other great names -- in a completely different way, Michelle Shocked is pretty damned good frinstance ....
