Campsites early morning first day?

Went this year and got there Thursday. Camped at Baileys. Too far man! Too far!

Trying to decide which coach to book to arrive Wednesday this time, as got the golden ticket.

If we get to the gate at 10:30, will there still be tidy camping spots by the time we roll in?

Should I book a bus to get in earlier?

Get there as early as possible- you could be queuing for quite a while from getting off the bus to getting through the gate

if you arrive at 10.30am on Weds.

First time I went my coach arrived at 10ish. Got my ticket at will call and queued up. Mates had just gotten there and parked too. They walked in from PG D and we set up at Oxlyers around 11 ish but it was filled by noon more or less. So yeah, it will entirely depend where you want to camp. But you should have a fair amount of choices and wont be too far.

nah that’s the perfect time we sailed though with no queue, year before last , at 11 from a bus arrival although it will vary slightly each year

Tend to agree - Approx 10:30 to 11:00 am is when they've just about cleared the backlog and it starts to calm down.

We usually get the 7:30am coach from Bristol, getting in the queue usually about 9:30, and find that people in our group who arrived more than hour after us end up only being about 15-20 minutes later through the gate.

They usually open at 8am Tuesday, so if you want a closer spot that’s the time, if you’re not bothered there tends to be a steady influx throughout that day, or beyond.

Coming down from Wales so it'll be Tuesday evening at the earliest, last time we pulled in around 5am Wed morning, set up then headed to the gate at 8am

I thought it was midday, based on this? This will be my first time in a camper so I don’t know how strict they are but the wording seems pretty firm on it?

Yes, officially it’s been midday for years, unofficially they’ve opened at 8am for many years (maybe 8-10?), there’s no guarantee of this but if you’re keen to be close it’s great. Apart from the very wet one, we’ve usually been parked up before 9am with minimal queuing

It depends how much space you need.  If it's just one tent, rolling in at 10:30 you'll be absolutely fine - even in prime fields that seem full you'll probably find somewhere for one, if you look enough!

Stop it, Avalon bar staff still arriving on Tues day and we have to use the camper route to get in! The fewer queues on my journey the better.

This is something I'm a bit concerned about. It's a been a while since my last Glasto, and lots of people have told me it has become way more crowded now. I'm probably just going to bring a diddy tent and spend as little time as possible in it.

The only reason that it is so crowded now is the fact that people now bring much bigger tents now. There is the same area available for camping and far more people camp in WV, Sticklinch and offsite camping than used to.
The tent that I bring for myself now probably has a larger footprint than the one I used to use for the whole family. I’ve quite often seen a multi room family tent used by a couple or even individuals.
If you bring a small tent you will probably be able to squeeze it in somewhere centrally.
I remember one year the guy camping next to me turned up with a wheelybin full of Stella.  Sold the Stella (£1.50 each 3 for a fiver), brought gear with the proceeds and slept in the bin. You don’t get that now
