Our group of 4 will hopefully be in... except that 3 of the 4 of us are abroad on ticket day!  Argh!!

I wonder what the limit will be on number of tickets this year?

I'd like to see PJ Harvey headline but I'm also quite happy to let GM go with what they think best because they usually do a great job!!

I'm defo in! Great start folks, PJ and TV on the Radio would be lovely. Waxahatchee and Les Savy Fav, Melts for a bit of Irish interest but totally trust the lineup. Such a relief to be able to say that about a festival this far out!

After an amazing first year there I will definitely trust the process and look forward to what's thrown at us next year but will keep my fingers crossed that Los Campesinos poke in. After seeing so much Melin Melyn merch hope they play too so I can see what the fuss is about!

I was gutted Bill Ryder-Jones wasn't there this year as I'd seen him live shortly before the line up announcement and he was absolutely brilliant - and new album is great as well. Seems to have love for GM and is seemingly good mates with Gruff Rhys - so if he's still touring next year I'd be amazed if he didn't show up.

Our youngest will only be 7 months next year so think we'll leave it until 2026. Watch out for Christine and the Queens headlining, just to piss my wife off (we didn't go in 23 and she's also big fan of First Aid Kit and Self Esteem 🤦‍♂️).

Public Service Broadcasting were a brilliant late edition in 2022 and got a new album coming out and tour, so I'd fully expect them to be on the radar.

Email re tickets today. Who do we think this new ticket provider is and what fresh ways to torture us!

I saw that. Interesting. Unless it's one of the major ticket agents who are used to massive demand, I think it might be a bit disappointing again. And I can't imagine Green Man going with a Ticketmaster or AXS, but who knows....

Fingers crossed it goes smoothly.

In terms of agents capable of running the sale without the kind of issues seen previously, then that pretty much limits the options to Ticketmaster, AXS, See, or Eventim. Then the next tier would be Dice, Gigantic, Eventbrite, or TheTicketSellers but probably they'd all struggle nearly as much as Ticketline with something that big.

Everyone else is either a white label or offshoot for one of those, or far too small to be considered.

My gut feeling is that it'll be TheTicketSellers, and that it'll be painful again.

There's Kaboodle who seems to do a lot of festivals too. Not sure they do anything with Green Man level demand though.

The Ticketsellers will be painful if it is them, yes. Not sure what Green Man say to customers if they moved specifically for that reason and it happens again.

Buying festival tickets on Dice is painful, so hopefully not them. Nice app for buying concerts, but wildly unsuitable for events with loads of different ticket and camping options.

Firstly it hasn't even happened yet, but how do you know it's last minute? They haven't needed to sell any tickets for a year.

I'm piecing together scraps - that's why I use the word 'seem' rather than 'know' - maybe I should have added the classic 'to me' to my seems!  I know that I tried to find information on last years ticket sale and they had screenshots of what the process looks like (I don't know how far in advance that became available).  I know the ticket sale is intended to be in two days time and we're only getting told who the ticket seller is either today or tomorrow.  I know that they only shared 'ticket news' 5 days ago to say there'd be a new seller.

I'm definitely not in the know, and I've not spotted anyone else expressing similar sentiments, but it seems to me like they are sorting out a fairly major part of the functioning of the festival in a very last minute kind of way...

Not sure it's possible to read anything into the lack of public signs of activity, given that there's ultimately no need for the public to know until the sale is imminent.

The fact there's a new ticket agent is interesting for those of us who overthink these things far too much (obviously including myself in that), but for the overwhelming majority of customers they won't care or know the difference. Some of them may not even notice.

As a festival that sells out quickly I'd assume that GM is more above the radar than most other festivals.  About a week ago, trying to be mildly organised, I was trying to look at what might help my chances on ticket day.  Having an account with ticketline seemed sensible - giving them my card details was the next step, but I'm only mildly organised so I thought that bit could wait a few days.  No harm that I can skip that bit now.

I definitely appreciate that there's a huge amount going on behind the scenes, and we don't need to know about most of it.  I also see them as being in the business of promotion though.  E.g. 'yay, we have a new beer supplier - in 3 months time when you're with us you'll now be able to enjoy X craft beer!!!', or the last minute (something's not gone to plan) version 'yay, we have a new beer supplier - next week when you're with us you'll now be able to enjoy Carlsberg! [and we're reducing options for you to bring your own]'.  Sure, we don't *need* to know who we're giving our money to in two days time yet.  But I would have thought that anything to do with ticket sales they'd be all over any opportunity for the promotion side of things, telling us about any improvements and benefits (if it's not being botched).

I went through yesterday (Wednesday) thinking that it was Thursday - realised at the end of the day that I probably came across as being in a right panic [it'll all be fine] - things aren't actually as last minute as I thought!

Although now it is actually Thursday?

Hmm. Just looked at Green Man's Privacy page and it says they work with "ticket agents such as Ticketline and Dice". Have they worked with Dice before? If not, I suspect they're the new ticket agent.

Dice is a lovely app for buying concert tickets with, but it's awful for festivals. It doesn't seem built for it. Plus whenever there's a really busy show, like Fred Again... at Ally Pally, it does seem to go a bit wrong. Plus you need to download an app to buy a ticket, which is a bit intrusive for me.

But fingers crossed it all works as it should. Hopefully an upgrade.
