Thing is, it's not really that they kept it secret as the information was definitely out there for over a month before they announced it - including the very first post on this thread - it's just it seemed so far fetched that a lot of people (including myself) simply didn't believe it.

The first inkling I had was when someone I follow on Twitter mentioned it in April 2024 but as others have said, we've heard it all before in the past 16 years so I thought nothing of it.

I always thought Hindu Times sounded too much like Same Size Feet by the Stereophonics

haha a complete 100% ripoff!

I saw Stereophonics do an album launch acoustic set in May, was all quite casual and he just did a couple of little riffs of parts of older songs in between the actual ones they played. He did a bit of that and was just like "if you want to hear that you'll have to go to the Oasis shows", which made me laugh

Haha fair play to them for taking it in good nature,  given how many lawsuits for stuff thats less obvious have happened.

For me the Stereophonics song is much better than the Oasis one anyway, though it might just be because i heard it first and was like - WTF when Hindu Times cames out.

The riff is very simple; probably 90% of bedroom guitarists have idly hit upon it on Saturday afternoons as they gaze absently out the window.

I never seek consciously seek out the Hindu Times to actually listen to it, but whenever I hear it I think it's a banger. I'd enjoy it being added to the set next year.

Didn't Kelly Jones nick it from ABBA anyway? Does your mother know..

Was just about to say the exact same thing  -  ABBA then Sterophonics then Oasis.

In order of brilliance of the individual songs. Sterophonics > ABBA > Oasis

It's actually one of the only big selling ones I've never seen live, by either of them

November announcement at this point?

I expected them to make the announcement in october because they contacted newsletter subscribers a few days ago and asked if they still wanna receive updates from Oasis. But since Liam posted about november i guess that's it for now.

Are those the normal stage times in Japan? I kind of like it.

Artist by artist or maybe venue by venue by the look of it. Muse were done by 9pm, whereas Foo Fighters played on until 10.

On a weekend, I think those kinda times wouldn't be too bad. Weekday, different story.

I used to live over there.

In most cases, show starts at seven on weekdays and five or six at the weekend.

Many concerts don’t have supports (the Oasis reunion shows do though).

Looks like the chances are low that the tickets will be available at the Tokyo Dome box office on show day.

If anybody visiting Tokyo ticketless (e.g. LazyDavid and CaledonianGonzo upthread) still wants to go see them, my suggestion is;

(1) Go to the Tokyo Dome anyway, ideally a few hours before doors open, and check the box office just in case there is a last minute ticket release.

(2) If the ticket is not available, after all, stand or walk around the venue, box office area in particular, showing a notice on a sizable piece of paper, “I’M FROM THE U.K. TICKET WANTED!” Your enthusiasm may draw attention and earn sympathy from a Japanese fan with a spare ticket to sell. Check the price before you pay. Good luck!

Last but not least. Do at your own risk. You may end up wasting your precious time (and some money). You’ve been warned!

P.S.

AFAIK the tickets for the Oasis Tokyo shows are old school paper type, not smartphone one.

Glasgow Green before TRNSMT?

TRNSMT moving dates certainly made me think of it being Oasis related in some way due to the audience. Another thought was a worry about them losing half their audience by Oasis doing something on their usual weekend

You would expect them now to wait until the last night in Argentina on 23rd November.

So on that basis it might be the last week of November they drop an announcement.

On the other hand they may just be focussed on the tour and getting that wrapped up and have not discussed / agreed anything yet and want to mull it over December / January to firm up the plans with an announcement early next year.

Hard to see them after the success of this tour, them not wanting to carry it through to 2026/27.

    • I was assuming September in Stirling might have a different issue tbf in the form of it just pissing it down.
    • Yeah so many of mine seem to be just France v Spain in one semi and England/Brazil v Argentina in the other. But the fact those combos are the obvious ones mean it feels unlikely that'll happen because in World Cup history, you very rarely end up with what pre-tournament looks like the obvious final 4. We all see teams outperform and underperform. Which one is the fall guy is a different matter.   I've said elsewhere that for me, there's a hierarchy of Spain, France and Argentina as the 3 strongest looking, then England and Portugal, then Brazil and Germany, but that overall, they'd be the 7 likeliest to win. So I dunno, maybe this will be the time the Netherlands avenge the failure of total football in 1974 and achieve what they couldn't achieve through whatever the f**k Nigel de Jong was with his 2010 final karate moves.
    • Oh I think Infantino should resign. His handling of the whole WC process has been an utter shitshow. But you know. That would require him having integrity or something.
    • Good Charlotte would be fine third down or subbing. If they can get a bigger sub and still get GC, they’ll play third down.
