If they are a Pallet headliner, weakest one we've had in a very long time.

On The Blend
Honestly, this does seem very odd comms-wise to me. Surely another Pallet headliner is TBA or else the headliners are the first, third, and fifth names on the poster? Acts do try to negotiate better slots but this is just confusing. Also, if they have announced 100% of their main headliners and not made it clear then that's just shoddy comms, as people will speculate, expect more, and be disappointed. Could Orbital potentially be some kind of late night closing set? Do they even have a license for something like that? I'm just trying to wrap my head around the possibilities here. The Magical Sounds tent used to close at 3am on the Friday and Saturday nights, but the replacement for it will need to be a much bigger tent for Orbital to play it. Well the fest has confirmed Orbital are Pallet headliners, so it would have to be a late night on main if they are doing one at all.
spudthemariner
From the newsletter (on the website).... 'HEADLINE PERFORMANCES FROM: JANE’S ADDICTION (UK FESTIVAL EXCLUSIVE), AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS, FUTURE ISLANDS, SLEAFORD MODS, ORBITAL AND DINOSAUR JR. (UK EXCLUSIVE SHOW)!' Also... 'main stage headliners, Orbital,' So not sure what the confusion is to be fair. Apart from the (imo unlikely) event that one of the announced are the Thursday 'headliner' , Outside of the Convoy, new dance tent etc, that's your lot headliner wise as far as I'm concerned (Pallet and Meadow anyway). As for the 'poster', I think that folks are reading far too much into the order that acts are listed...its just not a very good graphic! I guess my confusion comes from expecting their visual design folk to not be so incompetent. Most people aren't reading the newsletter, they're glancing at the poster so if this is the complete set of headliners I think they've dropped a bit of a clanger. I'm happy enough if those are the the headliners of Pallet and Meadow. Really happy with Jane's, Dinosaur Jr and Orbital. Don't mind Amyl or Future Islands, don't care for Sleaford. Think it does scream that they've paid through the nose for Jane's though. Think we might get some last minute big editions down the line. Can definitely see Feeder being added after their tour. Consistently, I've always found the undercard to be more of a draw than the headliners to be fair (although Janes is a massive one for us). Be interesting to see the rest of the lineup develops... On The Blend
I’d like to walk back some of my jabs at the BT design team as it seems that for the last couple of years it’s always been rows of two. Last year the top six were three Pallet headliners, two Pallet subs and a Woodland headliner. I still think it’s an unnecessarily confusing visual design but I suppose it’s at least consistent. Hopefully they've learned from this year not to start Meadow headliner until Pallet finishes (see Interpol and Echo this year).

As much as I love Dinosaur Jr, they shouldn't be headlining the Pallet - Meadow headliner is better suited, but I think that's even a bit of a push. As with any solo festival, it's great doing exactly what you want, when you want to. Probably down to you to initiate conversations but everyone is friendly enough. I loved it but it is better with mates.

I'm hardly a perfect demographic measure of all attendees, but me and my "crew" have decided to sit on our wallets and compare a more finished line up with Beautiful Days or some other smaller festivals like Deer Shed. Out of the announced headliners there is only really Dino Jr that I would pay to see if they were playing locally. A few decent acts in Woodland (I LOVE that stage) might well tip me over but at the moment...
