Didn't the police try using it for a festival to catch the dealers/good for nouts on the way in about a decade ago and get promptly told to go fuck themselves by those attending and the organisers when they realised the possible loss of ticket scales.

Having a camera is one thing, facial recognition is OTT

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me, especially for that purpose...

Problem now though, is that the festival will still sell out regardless...

Also facial recognition is in use all over the place, almost any time you go out you can be sure you've been scanned somewhere... Even bloody Co-op were using it at one point (not sure if they still are or not.)

Download 2015 it was big news. Doesn't seem to be anything about whether it's still used or has been rolled out elsewhere.

It’s an entirely different thing at a festival  though … where people go to relax they don’t want cameras following every move … I do nothing that would cause me any issues but it needs to be understood there has always been a culture of drug taking at the festival …it’s just those drugs seem to be changing … allow it for one thing and you don’t know how far it gets used for others …. I think they use them for crowd control at the moment

I don't think it'd be used for curbing personal use 🤷‍♂️ But you're right, stand by and let it happen for one thing without speaking up and it will happen more and more.

I also think they're there for crowd management reasons, but no doubt the footage would be pulled for investigating any serious crimes... And they really are everywhere, I was honestly surprised by how many there are. They're well concealed, but they are many and widespread!
