Caravan towed by transit van

I’ve been looking into hiring something to tow my caravan to Glastonbury. I can hire a Toyota hilux for £420, or a ford transit van for £250.

So I was planning on getting the van and wondered if anyone had any experience of towing a caravan with a van to Glasto.

I know there are rules about unconverted transits, but I don’t plan on sleeping in it, so I wondered if having one as a towing vehicle would cause any issues.

I have no experience of towing with a van but it won't be an issue having one as a towing vehicle. Our friends used to tow their caravan there with a Vauxhall Vivaro van and never had any problem. 🙂

If it rains a transit will be useless getting it back out on Monday. The Hilux will be 4x4 and probably have all terrain tyres so you will have a much better chance.

Not that its going to rain.

I'm using a Vito to tow mine in, I've fitted AT tyres just in case.

That's a top tip. I hadn't considered before, but if I had the option... 4x4 every time!
