Your ideas for themed areas

Hi, another day of waiting for nothing to arrive so in the meantime what ideas have people got for themed areas or venues. This could be a re-theme for existing areas or a completely new venue.

I'd like to seen an area given over to a western town, by day there would be C&W, americana and bluegrass bands playing small outdoor stages. The centre would be a huge double level salon with dueling pianos playing requests and maybe a headline from a Zac Brown Band or Blackeberry Smoke. There could be a BBQ pit serving food, roasted corn, moon shine cocktails etc and actors staging periodic shows, bar brawls, high noon showdowns, dancing ladies etc. Maybe even a train coach element for high end dining.

Be cool to hear everyones ideas...

Boomtown seems to be the one for these ideas … I’m sure they must have a bigger pot than G for the creative team

I *think that it’s just because it’s much smaller, and ultimately that’s it’s USP, as they don’t book any large size acts so their budget doesn’t go on booking big names to sell tickets (like say R&L) but rather it’s based on the experience.

In fact having said that, I’m sure listening to the Glastocast with that Kaptain guy who is in charge of booking the acts there, he actually said they aren’t even releasing a lineup at all this year.

I think it would be tricky to replicate what boomtown do at Glastonbury as the budget is spread so thin across the smaller areas that are the equivalent of Boomtown in size.

Would really appreciate an interactive area which documented the history of the festival.

I'd really like a qiant fire breathing spider which is going through a metamorphosis, process turning into a crane.

Let's stop there!

The Western town idea sounds awesome, would be well up for that. A gritty industrial venue would be awesome

around the pier/Glastonbury on Sea: i'd like to see some pirates free ranging around that area, stealing cans of beer and chips off people and saying AAARRR  a lot. Sort of like the seagulls in t+c but with a stronger feel of faint violence to them.

Having been too young for the heyday of the 90s illegal rave scene, I’d love to see something themed around that era. Random payphones where you have to dial an answering service to work out what’s happening. Collection of Escorts and Novas parked outside. Exposed wiring everywhere etc…

Fairytale, Alice in Wonderland, middle earth fantasy etc would be amazing but it’s very, very difficult and expensive to do well so it’s truly immersive.

Lots of people want to see what it was like before the fence, so an area like that...no coppers, bonfires, lager sold out of vans, some travellers, dogs on string, hippies wandering around offering drugs for cash (or come Sunday just asking if you had a quid or two spare), no mobile phones (but loads of notes at meeting points), queues at payphones, blokes flogging black 'ash/trips/sensi from a big frame tent, folks riding trail bikes with no helmets or driving old vans through crowds, more intimidating security geezers in an LWB land rover attempting to look ominous.

Like a big lawless circus 😊

Actually not a bad idea. Re-enactments of the battle of Yeoman’s bridge every day at 5pm.
