Would love to meet some of you down there on the Mon/Tues!

I will aim to be down on the Monday in order to make the most of it (work permitting) - let's face it the party is already full swing if you know where to look!

Still beaming today - came too close to not being there for my liking.

Okay guys.

My partner has a spot volunteering, she can have Thursday through Monday off but everything else is a flat no.

I'm just checking there's no way for this to work we haven't thought of right? I.e. can you make up shifts working Monday, or anything else.

Please let me know, it would be a massive help.

Think your snookered I’m afraid, I’d double check with the office, but when you reserve the spot it tells you dates you need to be available from

Oxfam will probably say no. There is a mandatory briefing on the Monday or Tuesday evening. If you can’t attend it it’s normally a dealbreaker.

no harm asking though

@incident best one to confirm tbh as havent stewarded glasto recently.

Nor have I - last time for me was 2015 so I wouldn't be confident on current briefing times. I remember them as being through the day on Tuesday with a couple mop ups on Wednesday.

Gut feeling though is that they'll say no - late arrivals (and in the context of Glastonbury, this one would be very late) are sometimes permitted if they're struggling to recruit or if they know the person will be fine without a full briefing, but it doesn't sound like either of those apply in this case.

That's assuming we're talking Oxfam here, where the peak staffing time will be on Wednesday and early Thursday - Alex didn't mention a specific provider. For some roles, like Shelter on the bars, it may be less of a problem as the peak staffing will be much later in the weekend.

Yeah, this is all correct I'm afraid. Assuming it's Oxfam. Like incident says, the only time I've known them allow late arrivals is at festivals they are struggling to fill and even then it'll likely only be long term volunteers.

If anyone's still looking for volunteer places, Poo Crew have some more drop-outs so are looking again.

They do the compost toilets and seem like a really friendly crowd.  You can get there from the Sunday and drive in, they also will try to sort out your shifts around a particular act you want to see.  (These points made it more attractive for me as the bar work you had to get a coach and weren't even allowed to swap your allocated shifts so you could be given bloody awful ones).

When a couple arrived late in 2019 on the Thursday they were given terrible shifts because people had to be moved to cover the shifts they missed on the wednesday and Thursday so they ended up getting Friday late shift, Saturday nights and Sunday Nights then they had to be separated because they were arguing but but this was unplanned lateness so maybe you could contact Oxfam . In 2019 the meetings were twice a day on Monday and Tuesday about 15.30 and 17.30.

If it was recycling crew and they were on Friday to Monday shifts it could be a possibility as I can't recall whether the briefings are Wednesday or Thursday.  So if they were Thursday it would be OK

Don't think there were any briefings on Monday, as there'd still be a lot of people to arrive. I remember it as Tuesday briefings for people working Wednesday, and Wednesday briefings for the rest. I think. Three years is a long time.
