Fishinginthelongdrops
Anyone have any idea if Camp Orchid is likely to be worth the extra cost if arriving on Thursday? Will all the good general camping areas be snapped up early on Wednesday and is Camp Orchid likely to be near the action?
Sku
The festival layout, and camping locations in particular, are completely changed for 2022. So it's hard to say if all the "good" areas will be taken or not, because actually nobody really knows which areas are good or not yet! It will be a bit like a "new" festival for everyone. Most of the "action" is now in the downtown bowl, the previous "uptown" entertainment areas (including Lions Den) are gone. There will be small scale entertainment in the three campsite villages, which act as hubs for the three new camping regions. The plan was for Camp Orchid to be located up the hill, in the approximate area previously used as "reserved camping". If this is still the case, it means you would likely need to cut through the woods down the stairs to get to the main "action". The final layout of the festival campsites is yet to be confirmed, so it might have been changed, but this is my current understanding. Based on the info given to me by the team, I've plotted the 6 main camping areas (3 general, 1 Skylark, 1 Orchid, 1 Campervan) on this map: https://boomtownsource.com/boomtown-map-2022/ Of course, it's all subject to change, but this is somewhat like how it will look. Fishinginthelongdrops
Thank Sku for taking the time to give a detailed and helpful reply. Are you responsible for Boomtown Source? If so, thanks again for a great resource. First Boomtown for us this year as our luck has sadly run out with Glastonbury tickets. Still massively excited for Boomtown despite the anxiety of what appears to be some very heavy “security”.

I think the talk of "heavy security" is a bit overdone by the paranoid types. There is above average amounts of bag searching on the gates, but once you are inside, everything is as chill as you would expect at any other similar festival. Old_Johno
Bit annoyed they got rid of reserved camping, worked out at around £10 per person if you got a few of you on a pitch. You’ve either got to pay for orchid, pay to arrive Wednesday or accept you’ll be camping on a hillside. hopefully there’s some flat spots left Thursday towards the outer edges
