Right then, let's do the old 12Z!

THIS WEEKEND

Heavy rain for Sunday appears to be setting in now. Is there any way back from this?

Low pressure has full control of the UK.

image.png.06cbf172fe46cc61392cee06d8fdacff.png

And it gets worse, with heavy rain now hitting slap-bang on the site on Monday too.

And even worse than that, no drying temperatures.

image.thumb.png.64a4bd878daba4db391a2f24f7113f8a.png

The good news is that the low does retreat on Monday and Tuesday (which is dry).

WEDNESDAY - GATES OPEN

Dry, with pleasant temps of 15 for 9am.

image.thumb.png.c82130d23810016a6f4d295ee954cf45.png

But Wednesday does now have some light rain later in the day. Though max temps are 20.

image.thumb.png.85e5c9bff5770736d4531e97be4edc15.png

High pressure is improving into the picture.

THURSDAY

Dry, max temps 19 - still not brilliant for drying the ground.

image.thumb.png.403a425fb39ffa6fdf0b76cf2bd3a6ac.png

But some good news at last! High pressure is getting more dominant!

image.png.419901dd7379bdedeb8466fa4d3023f9.png

FRIDAY

Dry day and much better temperature wise - at 21 the ground will be drying out really well today.

image.thumb.png.cfdd05837cd8c85771d8fd1e0522d685.png

And high pressure is increasingly in control. Could be a warm weekend!

image.png.e1a81ad39c4c6a72420aa48fa42769e0.png

SATURDAY

Scorchio! Completely dry with highs of 24 degrees.

image.thumb.png.09502954001c7c697bb89db3c1c39a3d.png

High pressure now absolutely bossing it.

image.png.b6ca780ec899800346b982a111c65ea9.png

SUNDAY

More manageable at 20 degrees, and still completely dry.

image.thumb.png.881dc994d77607bfbd67cdb63776f875.png

High pressure still in command.

image.png.ed226e54543e1ae2276b30d04b4711ab.png

SUMMARY

It's a very wet weekend and early into next week, with no temperatures to dry the ground before we all arrive. It means it would be a bit of a squelchy start but we should all be in trainers by later on Friday and definitely on Saturday.

So is it a good or bad update?

Mixed, for sure. Something for everyone in this one!

Glasto HQ already have the "if you havent started on your journey....dont" tweets drafted.

They also have their “don’t forget to bring plenty of water and factor 50” in their back pocket too. They’ll probably need to send both. On the same day.

That is awful. So muddy for people who cant handle the mud & then too hot when the main stuff starts.

Absolute shitshow

Is this like we had in 2016? Torrential rain the weekend before and the site was just mud for the entire festival?

2016 had a lot higher water table. Based on the ground reports the well is super dry so not the same mud risks.

Hopefully that will make the difference but ever since 2016 I’ve thought that lots of the rain in the build up is not a ideal.
