Here's a nice thought for the evening.

At this point in 2017, BBC and Met Office were showing 50-60% chance of showers through Sat. It became that 45 mins of drizzle Sat am that most people don't remember.

Also, on the 2017 Weather Thread we came to the conclusion that BBC and Met Office had been most accurate the week leading up.

And the  2017 late  friday night showers werent anything too bad. Was in Arcadia when it was coming down, but no effect on the ground.

Just highlights why there’s no point obsessing about the weather. The forecasts are in constant flux. You might as well be trying to read tea leaves or something. In 2019 the forecast before the fest was the same as it is now.

That’s patently not true. This point last year we knew it was dry.  This year it’s a pattern of showery rain and pretty much everyone agrees. Just a lottery as to where it falls.

I remember dancing in the Green Peace field when the rain was coming down and loving it. Was nothing more than drizzle. Woke up the next morning to my dad putting on a massive pair of moon boots because he’d heard someone say it rained over night. I told him not to be ridiculous. 2016 did funny things to people!

I mean that part about 2019. There being no point in obsessing about the weather - you’re probably right.

The lack of consensus on when these showers and possible storms will hit us tells you all you need to know about predicting rain. We’re really at the stage of just looking up at the sky on the day.
