Any boots without laces run the risk of being sucked off 😉 but if it means avoiding laces then I'd risk that. I disagree. It's all about preparing properly, then you can walk wherever you like. Walking boots without laces is madness IMHO. Fuck pussy footing around a bit of mud - if you've got decent boots on, you can crack on and walk straight through it. Now that’s heaven right there. 😆

The only times I can recall it getting that deep this century are 2005 and 2007. Sorry Stu but it really did get well over ankle depth in places in 2016. The sheer quantity of mud made going off the paths hazardous, which meant they were more crowded, and it was easier to fall off into the deep stuff. Of course it's not going to be remotely like that this year!

Comfy, non-sweaty, no laces, easy on/off. About £25 at shoezone. If you like carrying round an extra few kilo’s per foot all day…
Pipine
There’s been several mentions on NetWeather of a potential plume again next week, I think it’s going to turn out better than currently forecast. The general forecast is decent, I’m feeling hopeful.

waynewdk
Just for a bit of temperature comparison, I know everyone’s different, but it’s 15 degree here, cloud and a 12mph breeze, I’m wearing trackies and thin gym shirt, can just about hack it, if I had alcohol in my I don’t think I notice, maybe if I changed to shorts. With no breeze I’d be fine, 2 degrees more 17 and it be great, so any thing between 17 and 24 will do me just fine Edited June 18, 2022 by waynewdk
SighMo
Also, rigger boots are deadly for twisting your ankle. They are banned where I work unless you’re a welder.

Running the risk of sounding like an old person, this sounds like what is veterans call "normal weather". It's a 2008 or 2009, it's a 1999, it's even a bit 2014 or 2015. It's not a 2003, 2010, 2017 or 2019 (el scorchio) and it's not 97,98,2007 or 2016 (wet mud bath). It's weather and we'll all* be fine with something like this. * Ok, not all of us. I agree with you entirely but this kind of sensible and reasonable response has no place here in this thread. (Although I remember getting totally pissed on in 2014 and having to hide in the beat hotel with Bradley Cooper and this run has no signs of that)

I did however see people's wellies sucked off a few times.

Been away for 2 days, just checked back in. Christ the high/low battle this year is proper nail biting. Still not sure and I don’t think we’ll have anything reliable until we get there.
