The Weather Thread 2022

Wow, what a change overnight.  Looks like the Germans were right all along…. Both the GFS and ECM agree with ICON from yesterday and put the low right over the UK, something which GFS had done on Gav’s latest video to be fair, but has since backed away from.  So this is what the midnight run of the ECM does…

There are showers breaking out on Thursday and then more organised rain coming up from the south

By Friday evening the rain has well and truly set in

it’s still chucking it down all of Saturday

and is still raining by Sunday, by which time the site will be sodden…

it is a worrying development.  Once the models start agreeing on the same trend, it’s starts to become a fairly certain outcome.   So that’s what the Europeans think,I’ll go and see what the Germans and the Canadians make of all this and report back…..

The Canadians are having none of it!  They do not subscribe to the notion of the low over the U.K., they keep it much further north.   Apart from a few showers on the Saturday, they give us a completely dry festival.  From the latest midnight run of the GEM:

Saturday - no low

Sunday - ridge of high pressure forcing its way in

The Germans agree with the Canadians. They do not have the low over the U.K. and have a ridge of high pressure close to or over the U.K. up to the Saturday at least, which is as far as the model goes at the moment.   So that would give us an almost completely dry festival, with temperatures rising through the week.  This is Saturday lunchtime on the ICON model…no low…

So America and Europe - rain rain rain

Canada and Germany - sun sun sun

Who will be right?  Answers on a postcard…

Its going to be rainy and muddy.
