Albums of the year (again)

First post was lost in the great purge of 2021, but some lists still coming in and I might even go back and post all of the previous ones if I can be bothered.

Anyway, Fantano posted his list this morning. A lot of stuff you’d expect, and some other stuff you may not. His #1 album seems to have gone pretty unnoticed around here (seem to remember it getting a few mentions but not much else) which is a shame because it’s excellent and i highly recommend people give it a go:

Probably my own biases slipping in a bit, but I'm surprised Wolf Alice's Blue Weekend is having a bit of a poor time of it on critics end of year lists. Quality album that I thought was well received at the time but not seeing it pop up on many lists at all.

Most of the lists that pop up/get attention are American publications and it didn’t get nearly the same acclaim over there that it did here. Seems to have cracked the top 5 of most of the major U.K. lists that I’ve seen (NME, Guardian etc).
