Sleeping in van in main car park on Tuesday night

Obviously sleeping in a campervan in the main car parks is not allowed, and being outside the fence for the festival doesn’t appeal to me at all so that’s not what this is!

Sleeping in your car on Tuesday night is allowed, but if I drive down in my van would I be able to set up my pop roof bed in the car park or is that asking to be booted out by the stewards?

Wondering if anyone has done similar in the past as I’d quite like a better night’s sleep on the Tuesday.

I'd say it depends on the stewards, I've slept in my car a few times and never had any issue but I was told by a steward last time (while gawping at the queue by the entrance) that sleeping in the car park wasn't allowed.

You'd probably be ok but it only takes a jobsworth. I guess if the worst comes and they tell you to move, you could always grab your stuff and head for the queue.

Feel free to correct as I'm reading your question as parking your campervan in the general car park and sleeping in it Tuesday night only. I don't have a definitive answer to this but it could provoke an interesting ( & maybe helpful) reaction at the entrance. There would be no problem if it is a standard light goods van.

Explain pop up roof bed

Park in the middle of the the field so your not at the edges.. Don't make to much commotion.. Music,, lights etc etc and you'll be OK..

In the disabled field you can sleep till the morning no worries... But that's because obviously if you are disabled you might NEED to sleep due to meds etc

copying the OP @TwinJimhere as i am curious to know what he/she is planning...

As i read it.. You want to camp, in a tent,  inside the festival fence for the duration... (Wednesday to Monday)but your normal mode of transport is a campervan NOT a car..??

So your choices are : 1.) Park in the regular car park, pop the roof and hope that an over zealous steward doesnt wake you up..? (they certainly wont let you do it from Wednesday onwards).. 2.) Park up before you reach the festival and hope that you dont get moved on by the constabulary..  3.) Buy yourself a campervan ticket and get there anytime on Tuesday and sleep as you want - (someone will correct me but i believe prices in 2019 were : £45 car park / £120 CV field - so £75 for a good nights sleep..

Now, with option 3 you get the advantages of : being front of queue on Wednesday morning at Gate C if you want to.... Having a quieter base to go back to if you really do need a good nights kip during the festival... being able to enjoy the marvellous anticipation that having a drink on the 'hill of death' Tuesday night undoubtedly brings..

Note* I am an old bloke who has only ever stayed in the CV fields in 10 festivals.... so i would clearly advise treating yourself to option 3.)

whatever you decide.. enjoy it you lucky bastard (i am a ticketless old bloke)

I don't get people who ask a question then never return or disappear for months/years. Can't be that bothered about getting an answer 🤔

The name Jim always raises alarm bells but this seems like a perfectly reasonable question to ask … they probably dissapear into the same black hole that people doing surveys do
