dotdash79
I was reading this yesterday and it did say April but it’s changed overnight. https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/tickets/ 1 3
Gnomicide
Good spot. That's a little sneaky, obviously they'll be letting people know before deadline day but some may be budgeting for April.
Gnomicide
Actually, I'm doubting myself now. It's always said April for the resale but did it say April for balance? I thought I had a screenshot but can't find it. We need @Dukeiconand his mysterious ways of seeing what's been updated and when.
Ayrshire Chris
Well spotted, I assume this will receive greater publicity nearer the time. Noticed that applies to coach packages and general admissions. Wonder if they will bring the resale forward? Could mean a resale late march. Things moving with the news yesterday of Worthy View resale . Great to see the planning forging ahead Edited September 23, 2021 by Ayrshire Chris

Hugh Jass
Makes you wonder if a few artists or contractors have asked for payment upfront in case of cancellation.
Gnomicide
Found the old ref to payment in April.
Crazyfool01
It also means that ticket holders can breathe a sigh of relief just a little earlier … it’s always good to see money leave the account for this one and the confirm you are going … even though the tickets were purchased it seems like decades ago now 😄

gigpusher
Shit what does this mean for re-sale. I'm on holiday for the 2nd week of March (in the UK but no doubt with rubbish internet a it's the middle of nowhere) I deliberately booked March and not April so that I would be at home with all our trusty equipment for re-sale day!! incident
Good spot. This has to be a VAT thing and makers perfect sense in that context. In short, VAT on event tickets is currently reduced to 5%. This goes up to 12.5% on October 1st, and then back up to the full 20% on April 1st.
jyoung
This isn't really relevant to this thread but oh well. I was thinking about coach packages and I think its fair to say that a lot of bookers will no longer live in the city where they booked their departure point from over two years ago... Bit of a headache.
Simpo
Reminder, for me and everybody else, that the remaining balance was (is) £215 per ticket. x 1 1

My thinking was that contractors might be asking for money up front before they commit to a build.

Based on a ticket value of £270 excluding the value of the program (that’s VAT free). Bringing the sale forward would save around £2.8 million of VAT which could be used to prevent large price hikes £54 of VAT at 20% per ticket £33.75 of VAT at 12.5% per ticket 140000 tickets

Neil
its probably because they want to give maximum oppoertunity for reselling tickets, everything is different this time, so theyve got nothing from the past rto predict from. But the principle is absolutely spot on.

incident
Just now, philipsteak said: Would the VAT be payed this way, or would it be based on when the festival takes place? Appears to be at the point of transaction - think that's why so many festivals are pushing to get sales in before the end of this month including the unexpected Glastonbury Campervan/Accomodation resale.
