I'm also firmly in camp "if you don't wanna play a song don't play it", nothing worse than seeing artists begrudgingly slog through tracks they're sick of

I've often thought this about KoL with Sex on Fire and Use Somebody but on their recent tour in Leeds they seemed to have started to really embrace it and was probably the best I've seen those songs live

If I paid £100 to see RHCP live and they didn't play Can't Stop, I'd want a refund.

The problem is they play Can't Stop and then they don't stop jamming on for the next two hours. Can't Stop isn't a song, its a warning!

Watching some Glasto - might get pelters for this but Wet Leg shouldn’t be anywhere near R&L, although it’s probably inevitable for 2023

How come? I think they’re a very typical R&L band. I think they’ll be mid Main Stage next year.

Just find them an incredibly odd concept - there was a discussion on it a few pages back but they’ve got a big ‘your dad’s new favourite band’ vibe about them. Didn’t see crowd shots at Glasto but I’m not convinced they’d appeal enough to pull a decent main stage R&L crowd.

They probably will play next year, just not sure they fit.

The crowd looked absolutely huge from the pictures I've seen

She's great isnt she. 20 years old...mad.

Absolutely mad to think how young she is. She looked like she was having the time of her life. The wholesome content we love to see.

Billie / Sam Fender

Kendrick Lamar / Doja Cat

My Chemical Romance / Foals

Very surprised they haven't had Foals back yet, despite them having three albums out since 2016 and not being exclusives elsewhere.

R&L have a habit of getting Glasto's sloppy seconds the following year (Arctic Monkeys, Metallica, Muse, Stormzy) so wouldn't be too surprising if Billie Eilish happened next year.

Wolf Alice are an excellent band but they will never headline this festival. Then subbing this year is a massive achievement and we will all enjoy it.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard on the radio/read in the NME/read of social media that “Wolf Alice are future R&L headliners”. Good albums but couldn’t pick one song everyone will know. They’ll be a good sub 100%

Agreed. When you look at the size of their crowd in comparison with Sam Fender you can tell who will be a future headliner.

I think Sam Fender will headline MSE when he next plays R&L. They've been in need of a guitar act to bump up for a while, and there have been other acts who have been booked to headline who have never been as huge as he is right now.

I reckon it will likely be 2024 though, as I can see him taking a break next year or in the studio.

Wet Leg were decent when I saw them but they do feel like a band shot into the sun by a few good tracks. Rest of the album wasn't that amazing and if their second doesn't have the same handful of catchy tunes they could be in trouble.

That said they looked like they were having a lot of fun which goes a very long way for a live act. Big "two girls dancing in a bedroom" vibes.
